Nerik Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 RIP to the 39. I today ready that yesterday a nice service was held yesterday to remember them.
Coyler Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 Horrific that these people were killed because of violence at a football match. Horrible day.
Earl Hafler Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 I can remember that evening like it was yesterday. 11 years old and didn't really understand it at the time. Rest in peace
KIDORIGINAL Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 Truly horrible stuff. How innocent people can go to a football match and end up dead as a result is beyond me, even twenty-five years ago. Rest in peace.
Rocheteau Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 (edited) What happened happened, nothing will bring back those lads and lasses back, The important lesson to learn is we make sure that something like this never happens again which, in my humble opinion, includes showing other supporters greater respect Hatred alcohol and abuse started this Edited May 29, 2010 by ChaoticPrimate
dorgie Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 RIP. Remember turning on BBC radio 2 around 6.30pm to tune into pre-match only to hear Emlyn Hughes on in tears about what was happening. Dark, dark night.
Billy Dane Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 RIP Match should have never been played after it became clear what had happened.
Cheesecake Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 I remember watching it on telly as an 11 year old and couldnt understand what was going on, the people commentating were talking but I didnt understand what they were saying. In retrospect they were talking about hooliganism and violence but to me as an 11 y/o those were words I didnt understand. Shameful what happened and I'm glad to see that bridges have been built following it. I think the game against Juventus in the CL a few years back was a start but its good that the club have officially recognised it. RIP the 39
Bootle Buck Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 I will never foget that day. A bunch of us scousers living in Fort lauderdale went to the alehouse in the afternoon to see tha match and we couldn't beleive what was happening in front of us. It was so surreal and when the game was played it was of such little importance. That night we all went to see Frankie goes to Hollywood and they invited us backstage afterwards for a bevvy. They were watching the game backstage for the first time on video and we all once again went silent watching what happened. A terrible day. RIP 39
