Siphiwo Ntshebe

Most - if not all - on here will not have heard of Siphiwo Ntshebe who died on Tuesday aged 34. The guy was going to perform in front of a TV audience of several hundred million at the opening ceremony of the world cup (with a song co-written by Nelson Mandela), and with a debut album due out soon, was expected to become a hugely successful recording artist.

 

Given how important it is to spot meningitis early, the final post on his facebook is pretty haunting.

 

"Killing headache, body aches, vomiting but the doctor says it's just fever"
