They must give very poor contracts.....certainly not like what Rafa's got.....after all we can't afford to sack Rafa and they sack a minimum of one per year.

Perez and Moratti have reached an agreement, apparently. Waiting for details now.

The gobsh*te finally gets the club he truly deserves.

Madrid have paid 8 million euros. Which is basically Mourinho's salary for this last season. Haha - the treble for free!

Strange thing is that they saked Capello after he won them the league (I know it's the CL they really want), but Capello's brand of football, although not fantastic to watch, is a great deal better than Mourinho's. Not sure the fans will be best pleased to have him there plying his anti-football tactics.

They want the league, CL and stylish football from top stars every season.

No different to most on here, really.

The fans wont like the fact that for the next season or two, Mourinho is bigger than Real Madrid.

Would be an awfully nice place for it all to go wrong, for both parties.

C'mon Barca, more than ever.

Hear hear, but nah, c'mon Sociedad until they can't mathematically win it, and then c'mon Barça.

sid lowe's take on this is good - the fans will accept him and his style of playing because the galactico thing on the pitch hasn't worked so now they've gone for a galactico manager. he's bigger than all the players and so the fans, driven by the pro-madrid press who will give him far more time than any other madrid manager has ever had, will be more patient. i think there's a lot of truth in that.

they sacked picasso after his blue period

To be fair, the fans had spent the entire season calling for a White Period...

Good riddance

Why do you like Real Madrid?

Seriously, I'd be interested to know.

They just seem to me to be obviously against everything else that you are at pains to point out you stand for.

Think he hit the nail on the head with his comments about Madrid's collection of Ballon D'or winners, the fact that none of them have actually won it at Madrid is completely irrelevant in the eyes of Marca and the fans.

The fact that they've now got Mourinho is as good as winning the European cup to them as hes the man that won it, and is now at Madrid.

Ronaldo won it in 2002 and he was with Real Madrid, as did Figo in 2000.

Unless you meant currently, in which case fair enough. They only have the two surely - Ronaldo and Kaka?

Ok.

And why is being the anti-Barcelona so important then?

They are massively up their own arses with all that 'mes que une club' s**** (after all, which big isn't 'more than a club' to their fans?) and their belief that they are the only side, ever, to have played decent football - but I find them way less offensive than Real, who were the plaything of a Facist dictator for f***s sake and continue to act as though they are.

I'm not interested in these spurious political connections between Real Madrid and Barcelona. Real Madrid are a great club and are really the only one who can realistically consider themselves on a par with us. Barcelona, like Man United, only think of themselves as great.

Both clubs, of course, have an idiotic pre-occupation with style of play

I know there is probably no point getting into this with you, but Barca have won 20 La Ligas, 3 European Cups and 4 Uefa Cups.

By what criteria do they 'only think of themselves as great'?

And what about Milan? 17 titles and 7 European Cups. Can they not 'consider themslves on a par with us'?

There are loads of great clubs out there, many of whom - like Real and, yes, Manchester United - I utterly despise. I'm not so myopic to claim that they aren't, in at least some respects, great clubs though.
