Bootle Buck Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 (edited) I played with Owen Brown as a kid for Bootle Boys and many Sunday League teams back in the 70's and I know he played in the ressies. However, I left England for the States back in 83 and just through other mates knew he had managed some non-league teams and ended up being a community liason with Liverpool. Recently though I see him sitting next to Kenny at the Hillsborough Memorial and Getting on the train to go to Madrid alongside Rafa. It appears Owen has quickly advanced in the Anfield ranks. What exactly does he do and how did he manage to get where he is so quickly? I haven't seen or spoken to Owen for probably 30 years but for someone who was not a notable ex player he seems to have done very well for himself. Edited April 21, 2010 by Bootle Buck
Mike Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 he's rafa's right hand man. he's risen inexorably through the ranks and has rafa's ear. many have him on a par with worm tongue.
Benzo-13 Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 "Never a frown..." Seriously, think he worked for Parry before Rafa?? TLW think he's the devil.
Benzo-13 Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Thought TLW thought rafa was the devil?Nah, they think Rafa is El Diablo..
magneto Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Once we're all happy about the club (and I believe that will happen). Once investment is secured and we've won our 10th Premier League title, just go over to TLW and you'll be suicidal after 20 mins.
CarraLegend Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Thought TLW thought rafa was the devil? That place is crazy, they dissect every interview Rafa does to try and get a quote to use against him. Someone compared quotes from Guardiola and Rafa about the travelling this week to have a go at him despite the fact our trip is far worse than Barca's. He's been ripped apart in the West Ham thread for his subs in the game, its mental. One or two start then all the mates pile in and the wannabee's follow. And half of them refer to him as "the fat c***". Weird place!

johngibo YPC Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Is that where Ant f***ed off to then? He went there and then came back. Not sure if he has gone again. Haven't been on their for a while. Cos its mental
ManxRed Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 TLW I can always tell what's going down on there, as I have a mate who reads it religiously, and he never stops spouting bile about our useless manager and players. It depresses the hell out of me. I can't have a rational conversation with him about Liverpool, as it just degenerates into loads of second hand opinions on how useless Benitez is, and how sh*t Kuyt, Benayoun, Johnson, Lucas, et al are. In fact, without going on there at all, am I right in assuming they are in favour of Mourinho? That's all my mate will go on about at the moment.
CarraLegend Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Oh yes! Any criticism of Mourinho doesnt go down well at all on there. I think most of them have a pager that goes off if Rafa is praised or Mourinho criticised as a mob soon appears to "set the record straight"
Superjay Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Sounds like the fella who sat beside me on monday is a member. Sat with arms crossed through YNWA and the whole of the first half, including the goals. Only time he piped up was when someone put a pass astray or a bit of bad play. 2-0 and cruising at half time he stands up and says "I cant watch this s***e anymore" and never came back. Odd.
ManxRed Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 (edited) There were a couple of fellas next to me in the pub. Everything and everyone was 'sh*t' from the kick off. Gerrard, Johnson, Kuyt had a terrible time, even when he was heading dangerous crosses across the six yard box ('useless'). We were so sh*t, we won 3-0. I don't get these people at all. EDIT: Apologies, I appear to have hijacked the thread. Back to Owen Brown.... Edited April 21, 2010 by ManxRed

Superjay Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Was talking to a couple of irish lads in the boozer before the game. Rafa's biggest mistake was signing that waste of space maxi apparently. Would have loved to see him afterwards.

I think most of them have a pager that goes off if Rafa is praised or Mourinho criticised as a mob soon appears to "set the record straight" I'm on TLW a fair bit and I must have missed the mass Mourinho love in.Yes, some want him to replace Rafa, same as on here. Tarring any forum as one homogeneous entity is simplistic in the extreme.I find most of the forums are fairly similar in their range of opinions.

Can't agree. Apart from the last few months of last season TLW has been far more vehemently anti Rafa than any of our forums.
CarraLegend Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 I'm on TLW a fair bit and I must have missed the mass Mourinho love in. Evidently so! Tarring any forum as one homogeneous entity is simplistic in the extreme. Can I have that in English, please?

Eiler99 Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 (edited) I think most of them have a pager that goes off if Rafa is praised or Mourinho criticised as a mob soon appears to "set the record straight" There was a bit of a scuffle on there recently when someone revealed that a group of the regular members used to pm each other when they needed "support" in an argument and everyone would come running. Everyone was quick to deny it though so I'm not sure how it turned out. Great entertainment though. Edited April 21, 2010 by Eiler99
