CarraLegend Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 In a season where the coaches have been ripped apart he's surely worthy of a bit of praise? Reina has been brilliant from the day he signed but he's just getting better and better. And Torres who I thought was a very inconsistent finisher at Atletico has turned into one of the best finishers ive ever seen and credits Valero for helping : “We’ve a Spanish goalkeeping coach and he has been a genius at telling me every week exactly what kind of task lies in front of me in the following match. “Nobody has ever worked with me like this before. It’s outstanding. Basically, I know days before the next game exactly the best way to finish a chance against the keeper I’m about to face. “Xavi Valero tells me precisely what each keeper tends to do — stay big, go down early, if they have a preferred side they try to push you to. It’s vital information. I’ve refined the way I take chances as a result.
Raj Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 That's quality. Love reading about the technical aspects of the game like that
sean Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Good shout that. There was a time when Pepe was prone to the odd error. He's clearly world class and a lot of his progress must be down to coaching, alongside his attitude.
Swipe Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Nice comments, those. As grumpy as he can be on the pitch at times, Torres is clearly a humble guy.
cymrococh Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Mad really, you wouldn't think he's got time to think about it.
Hassony Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 These comments are a couple of years old aren't they? Valero of course was also the coach who told aurellio to go for goal against cech last season in the CL
goose island Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 it's funny because Valero was at Wrexham (might have been on loan) in League 2 about 12 months before he joined us as goalkeeping coach and was apparently atrocious!
Sion Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 There was a save last night in first half where some fella drilled it low and it bounced right infront of Pepe. He just gobbled it up and the commentators said nothing. But it was actually a top top save that most other keepers would have spilled.I love him so much

Rory Fitzgerald Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 That's some serious attention to detail sh*t right there. Proper coaching. Its how it should be I would have thought. A goalkeeper will have a great insight into what strikers should do purely because they know the limitations of their own position.

Rory Fitzgerald Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 It's a bit like a woman advising a man on how to go down on another woman Yes, but if you have agreed to a 3-in-the-bed then everyone is a winner.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Mad really, you wouldn't think he's got time to think about it.exactly. Suppose that's the difference between him & us. Although I reckon I'd give him a run for his money
Jarg Armani Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 It's a bit like a woman advising a man on how to go down on another woman^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^Hassony's sexiest ever post.
DanielS Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 ...but then Valero will get the sack along with Rafa at the end of the season so there is no point getting attached...
