MFletcher Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 This is getting beyond a joke. He's practically getting assaulted game after game and opposition players are getting away with it. Luisao's kick could have broken his leg tonight, Luis went through the back of him again in the latter stages of the second half and he was on the end of any number of unpleasant trips and kicks throughout the game. This isn't just tonight, it's every game he plays. The opposition are trying to kick him out of games and referees are continually letting them get away with it. He's going to get a serious injury one of these days. It's not on.
MFletcher Posted April 1, 2010 Author Posted April 1, 2010 Do a spreadsheet, it's the only way forward. Whatever. We had to take him off for his own protection tonight. It's a f***ing disgrace how teams are getting away with this.

It's a f***ing disgrace how teams are getting away with this. Think we took him off cos he looked pissed off and we couldnt av him missing. I know what you mean tho. Am i the only one by the way who thinks that if a stray ball by gerrard to to torres or vice versa is applauded by each other but if another team mate does it they shake their heads in frustration? Cant be good for morale.

He's going to get a serious injury one of these days. It's not on.He is targeted and wasn't protected by the ref tonight. However, Luisao's challenge on him (the Babel incident) was just a booking and Torres does "manufacture" quite a few free-kicks himself - and they were certainly needed tonight to take the heat off. By and large, though, you're right. Although when Ferguson said the same, how many of us had sympathy for Ronaldo? Edit: Oh, and he needs to learn how to temper his frustration, no matter how bad the refereeing. Edited April 1, 2010 by mrshah
yellow jumper Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 i thought torres got a few horrific kicks, but, if i'm honest, i also thought he did a fair bit of diving. and fair play to him. i wish a few more were as clever at it. especially with officiating like that.

He wasn't diving. He might have gone down easy a few times, but why shouldn't he considering what they were doing to him?
MFletcher Posted April 1, 2010 Author Posted April 1, 2010 At least if he dives he can hit the ground before they kick through him and send him crashing there instead. Luisao could have broken his leg. It was never 'only a yellow'.
Coyler Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 (edited) Although when Ferguson said the same, how many of us had sympathy for Ronaldo?None, because the disgusting hypocrite's team had kicked Reyes back to Spain a few years previously. Edited April 1, 2010 by Coyler
Nebraska Red Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Torres is a marked man because other teams know a) we have no other strikers if he gets hurt, and b) Torres is likely to respond in kind at some stage and get carded. personally, i thought Torres did well to control his temper tonight.

CarraLegend Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 (edited) We're part of the problem, we just take it. Soft as s****. Gerrard to timid to say anything, Carragher is one of them "its a mans game" types and Rafa doesnt bother. We've been a door mat for years and years. And while we continue to be or dont pay bribes then we'll continue to be screwed over. Sad that footballs like that but its the way it is. Edited April 1, 2010 by CarraLegend

Hieronymus Bosch Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Torres does "manufacture" quite a few free-kicks himselfI should add that if he didn't, he'd get nothing. There was a classic example when Agger was cynically scythed from behind yet, because he got up and shook hands straight away, the perpetrator somehow wasn't booked. If you don't dive/exaggerate your fall, refs wave play on. The game's fooked.
muleskinner Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 We may take it up the a*** but I think tonight's shenanigans will see us come out at 100mph at Anfield. We will, early goals are back, I'm confident we will go through. The other 3 ties are all similarly poised. UEFA would have loved this tie being in the CL.

If you don't dive/exaggerate your fall, refs wave play on.. That f***ed me right off. The c*** knew he had done a bad challenge and the only reason he went to help agger up was to avoid a card. I dont think Ive been more angry during a game than I was today. f***ing pricks the lot of them.

Coyler Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 I thought that bloke who went through Agger slipped.
