Rory Fitzgerald Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Crikey, this lad needs Aurelio back quickly so that he can catch a break. The lad looked a right prospect when he broke into the team and ideally, he would have played half the games he has played this season but at the moment he is getting caught out something shocking. He wasnt helped much with Babel being sent off but some of his defending prior to that was very alarming. To be honest, I am glad he was booked today and Rafa has to re-assess for next week, I think it will help us. At least if we can anchor a solid LB like Carra there then a player like Benayoun or Babel can worry less at defending. Anyway, the kid deserves a break. I have not totally lost faith in him but he is becoming more and more of a liability in my mind. I generally look at the bookings market on Paddy Power and when they offer that market for a Pool game, I back Insua, its at that stage for me.
dl2009 Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 I think you're completely wrong about his performance. In fact, I can demonstrate how wrong you are by drawing a diagram with non-parallel parallel lines.
Epic Swindle Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 I'm beginning to lose faith. He's rubbish isn't he.
lfc003 Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 I just feel sorry for him now, Obviously our weak link and gets targeted every game.
MFletcher Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 He's a young player who's been thrown into the deep end because there is no-one else for the position. He's not good enough to be a fixture in the side yet, but we're asking him to be because we're f***ed for options there. It's getting to the stage where I'd stick Agger there and play Kyrgiakos in the middle. I really, really don't like the idea of moving Agger out of position and putting a square peg in a round hole, and I am sure I rallied against the idea a while ago, but it's something we really need to look at. I feel sorry for him, and we're effectively playing without a proper back four. Aurelio can't come back quickly enough.
Cam Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 He's clearly a bit thick. When we were all too nice on the pitch we called out for a Paul Scholes type - someone who will sacrifice themselves a booking for bringing someone down. Now we have 3 who do it in ridiculous circumstances and positions - Insua, Lucas and Kuyt. Leave it to Mascherano, FFS.
Nebraska Red Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Insua was poor tonight, but he gets little help when Babel is on the left as Babel has no clue about tracking back and wouldn't go for a tackle if his life depended on it. The lad needs a rest, but we have nobody else who can play left back. Is Deggen fit?

You can have an army of fusiliers in front of insua, it will not deflect from the fact that Insua is the worst left back I personally have ever seen in a Liverpool shirt, and the first left back I saw was Alec Lindsay.

stonty Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Sadly the lad looks way out of his depth & half decent teams home in on this like a heat seeking missile Bring Soto in (we needed a proper CH last night, all those free headers) & play Agger LB until we get someone else
sean Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Good Lord he's quite rubbish. Their best player in fact.
Stevie H Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 not going to the world cup then? i know maradona's off his cake on ecstacy pipes but even he isn't that fruitloop.
sean Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Poor lad looks like he's running with wellies on. Mostly back towards his own goal recovering. His distribution, which is what stood him out, is now incredibly s****. He needs dropping, for his own good as much as the side's.
kop205 Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 So what happens next week then? I'm going with Carra over to left back and bringing in the Greek - which given how poor Insua was, and how much Cardozo won in the air, might actually work to our advantage and give us a more solid back four (albeit not a long term option). It then has to be either Masch and Gerrrad or Masch and Aquilani in Centre Mid - I'd ideally go with the former without hesitation but Babel being out complicates things because Benayoun will take his place on the left meaning that he can't take on the Gerrard role off Torres, as I'd have otherwise being looking for him to do. So it looks as if Aquilani - if fit - has to play really, and it is just a question of which one of him or Gerrard plays in the middle and which plays off Torres.

Jarg Armani Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Would you have kept Dossena until the end of the season? I think I would. Riise is a nonsense shout though, everyone was made up when he went.

Jarg Armani Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 The answer isn't in the past for me. We just need a good left back.

And it'll be another death knell for Rafa; we're expecting a classic Euro cup-tie when we charge at them in full Attack Attack Attack mode from the start... and he plays two defensive midfielders. Lucas has no urgency, no desire to get the ball forward. The only reason for him starting is if Mascherano is playing rightback.
