SkippyjonJones Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 I really think this is going to happen. Arazel's got RP's log in details....
Alonso Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 (edited) I really think this is going to happen. What makes you say that? I see the rumours of him quitting over a row about the summer transfer fund have been rubbished. He also said that they have to sell to buy, can't see him jumping outta the frying pan and into the fire. Edited March 30, 2010 by Alonso
beejay Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 If he's leaving because of no money at Villa, why would (a) he want to come here and (b) we want him? Or © he is f*******g useless but G&H can't get Klinsman
Sion Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 why would (a) he want to come here because we're bloody Liverpool one of the biggest clubs in the world. I'd hate him like
aka Dus Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 I like his personality and his old school approach. But he's proven at Villa that he doesnt have what it takes.
Frosty Jack Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Imagine what it would be like on here if we had lost 7-1 to Chelsea? He's not good enough.
Arazel Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Nah. Its a known fact O'Neill is after the Utd job, and he'd never come to anfield and jepordise that. On another note, I dont think his english-only approach would be of benefit to us in european competition.
MFletcher Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Not good enough for this level. Two years in a row he's failed to rotate adequately to ensure his squad are fresh. Has won only a single league game in March in four years. He's just not a good enough manager for this level.
surf Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 I like his personality and his old school approach. But he's proven at Villa that he doesnt have what it takes. he's done alright, hasn't he? i thought he hasn't had much to spend but consistently finishes in the top 6/7. depends what you expect from villa really
muleskinner Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Is this all based on a false rumour about O'Neill resigning? If people are unhappy with the style of football now f*** knows what they will think of O'Neills tactics. Its only a notch up from Stoke.
aka Dus Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 he's done alright, hasn't he? i thought he hasn't had much to spend but consistently finishes in the top 6/7. depends what you expect from villa really Yeah he has and he did great at Celtic, as their current plight shows. However to even begin to justify why he should manage a club routinely in Europe (CL hopefully) he'd want to have at least had a proper run at 4th place in his time there. Or bring in some genuinely impressive players. Or show that he can manage a genuinely competitive squad effectively. I reckon he has done none of that well enough to continue warrant being rated as he was, perhaps, when he left Celtic.
Bogman Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 no, no and thrice no. someone adding up 2 + 2 and equalling 89562562562556256656956.0122555856562656356566266656568965696669R will not, and should not come anywhere near our club, except as an opposing manager.
fred milne Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Yeah he has and he did great at Celtic, as their current plight shows. However to even begin to justify why he should manage a club routinely in Europe (CL hopefully) he'd want to have at least had a proper run at 4th place in his time there. Or bring in some genuinely impressive players. Or show that he can manage a genuinely competitive squad effectively. I reckon he has done none of that well enough to continue warrant being rated as he was, perhaps, when he left Celtic.A fair summary.

Sion Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 He is the most defensive manager in the world. He plays like he should be doing versus Barcelona...versus every team. He'd play a midfield 4 of Mascherano, Lucas, Spearing and Plessis given the chance.
goose island Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 last time i checked i thought we already had a manager... ....and nevermind the fact that he's loads better than martin f***ing o'neill.
JRC Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 he's done alright, hasn't he? i thought he hasn't had much to spend but consistently finishes in the top 6/7. depends what you expect from villa reallyBought a lot this Summer for sure, although sold Barry. Unlike us, more cash out than in- and I think that has been true for most seasons under Lerner, although not next, apparently
MFletcher Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 (edited) He spent nearly £30M net in the summer. £12M a piece of Warnock and Downing, £10M on Dunne and Collins, £6M on Delph, £2M on Beye. They sold Barry for £12M and Knight for about £3.5M. Previous season he spent about £40M net. £8M on Davies, £5M on Sidwell, £2M on Friedel, £5M on Shorey, £5M on Luke Young, £0.6M on Guzan, £8M on Cuellar, £12M on Milner, £3.5M on Heskey. They only sold both Maloney and Routledge for minor fees. He's spent an absolute fortune for a side finishing in sixth the last two seasons and he looks like he's actually going to finish in an even worse league position. If anyone seriously thinks this guy is up to the job then they're wrong. Edited March 30, 2010 by MFletcher
