so you save a file

 

let's call it 'FastConf', on your Desktop

 

 

then you amend it, save it and when you go to open it again none of your changes are saved

 

 

so you amend it again - it saves as 'FastConf(1)' you close it

 

you go to reopen it and the only file you can find is 'FastConf' in it's original format

 

 

WTF is going on ?

 

Why would a file that's been saved revert to it's former status?

Why does a file save as it's former name + (1)?

Why does it not show on the desktop?

Which hammer should i hit it with having re-installed java - claw or mallet?
