Hes been decent over the season, but that doesnt mean we should have went for him, esp with Gerrard already there.

He does a similar job to aquilani. Looked a brilliant player over the two legs. I can imagine we decided against going for him because of his height. Him and masch would be a brilliant partnership in mordor, but would probably struggle against a lot of premiership midfields.

anyway, that performance by sniejder tonight is exactly what we need aqua to be doing......hopefully the pompey game is a sign of things to come.

We probably decided on AA pretty early on and stuck to it. There was very little to suggest we were shopping around, a bit of chat from Defour's agent but not much else.

Sneijder is a fantastic player. I wish we had got him when Real were after Alonso and Arbeloa.

he was playing ahead of two DM which meant little responsibility in terms of defence.. He would have competed with Gerrard position.. he is no doubt a world class AM and Real were crazy to get rid of him and Robben.. 15m was a bargain considering what real had paid when he came from an inferior league and proved himself in Spain.. maybe it was firesale to balance the books

He can also play very easily in one of the wide positions in a 4-2-3-1 as he has done at times for Holland. When we were linked to him last summer I was of the opinion that if we could hold on to Alonso and sign him we'd win the league.
