anfield11 Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Why not the support staff? Pellegrino, Lee etc. etc. There has to be some upgrades there surely? Discuss

Discuss Nobody knows anything about the training and how the coaches are involved so you are not allowed to discuss this. Or some bulls*** like that.
Tones Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Thats up to Rafa. They are his staff. We cant sack them (we cant sack anyone really), Rafa has to do it. You cant really go telling a manager who he can and cant have as backroom staff. If the board / owners start doing that they will start doing it with players too.

Or some bulls*** like that. when the manager is sacked the support staff will follow out the door. This is one of the reason's Rafa's not been sacked already - its an expensive business paying off the manager's backroom team

Yes, I get that, but what I'm asking is do we need some more hard driving individuals on the training pitch. Love Sammy Lee or not, he's never inspired me as a coach and all Pellegrino seems to do is hold a clip board. Is Rafa safer with people around him that are inferior? Everyone is touting that we can't afford to sack Rafa and/or they still support him, so maybe an all change of the coaching staff would do something?
Farmer's Tan Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 most people have supported him and some still do.Its hard when not only results but the way we play and both have been shocking for almost the whole season. If he was at any other top club his bags would have been packed long ago.i think it's safe to say our next game will have the same personal and tactics as our last, with 9 men inside our half and torres 20yrds + ahead, trying to make sure we dont concede at the cost of us creating much and scoring.i believe that is the main problem with rafa, too concerned with the opposition, that and players who are obviously stinking the place up keep getting played and don't get subbed til the last minutes of games, too many work horses and not enough player with genuine skill or pace.would rather play an old foreigner than youth hence hold back some of the more promising talent at the club, which is very poor from rafa.

You don't like Sammy Lee because he doesn't "inspire you as a coach" and Pellegrino is written off because all you see of him is holding a clipboard. With most of the coaching going on behind closed doors, we're left to criteria like that to judge the effectiveness of them, and its rubbish.
Nebraska Red Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 the first one to go has to be the dead ball trainer, if we even frigging have one that is. for a professional team to be totally incapable of delivering decent corners, free kicks and throw ins is an absolute joke. you don't expect 100% efficiency, but we aren't even close to 10%. then we have to fire the defensive genius who thinks that having all 11 back is a great idea, even when the other team leaves 3 men back. even my 9 yo knows that is a recipe for trouble.

I remember years ago when Sammy did the pre-match warmups, I always had the feeling that the players viewed him with disdain and a lack of respect. Something needs shaking!

Billy Dane Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Sack them and get Sam Allac*** in as coach to Rafa
Farmer's Tan Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 (edited) what a s*** and damning indictment that is of football today. why,we are (or were) at the sharp end, expected to win things paying the manager a big wage paying players big money spending big wedges on some players at his say so,why should we or any top clubs with aspirations of winning trophies accept mediocrity, almost a full seasons worth and no doubt by the end of the season it will be a full seasons worth because things don't look like they are changing anytime soon.no top club will suffer s**** for too long and why should they be expected to.
