Sgcotg Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Ok, its got to the point where i cant defend Rafa anymore and he has to go now, before we miss out on 4th spot.He has made to many mistakes with players, Crouch, Alonso and Keane are perfect examples of this. But the fact is his job is to manage, he buys the plays, picks the team and tatics, but he should also be able to manage the players. The last few weeks the application and attitude of the players has be awful, thats down to the manager. He is also to stubburn, i have watched him play Mascher and Lucas in the middle game after game, despite the fact it doesnt work. Final straw for me though has been Kuyt in the last 3 or so games, no matter how bad he is playing rafa keeps him on the pitch, until there is about 10 mins to go. The only problem is who to replace him with? who is available and could have an instant impact and maybe lead us to 4th place. I can only think of one man really.
Hassony Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 (edited) certainly needed a new thread Edited March 12, 2010 by Hassony

I can only think of one man really. 4th is gone even if we replace him now. If I was involved i'd be on the phone to Mourinho's agent and testing the water to see just how fed up he is in Italy. In the summer I think Rafa has to step down, after promising 4th he's going to get nowhere near it and we'll have played pretty much an entire season of dross football. Anyone who wants him to stay on has got to give serious thought to how he and the players are going to arrive back for pre season training and suddenly, from nowhere, play with any confidence in each other. The first defeat of the new season would have everyone s***ting themselves that we in for another season like this one. No, enough is enough sadly and the club is more important than any sentiment for Rafa Benitez who almost everyone would acknowledge is a really good man and gave us some great times.
Hightown Phil Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 People need to get out of cloud cookoo land and think Mourinho would come within about 30 miles of this car crash masquerading of a football club. If Benitez goes, it'll be someone like Mark Hughes.

smithdown Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Steven Gerrard has registered at last. Hello Stevie, lad.
5InIstanbul Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 A new thread. Great. Can you not just add to what's there already FFS.
Falconhoof Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 I don't get why it upsets people, that much, that its a new thread.

I agree, i think Rafa is a good man, but for whatever reasons he has lost 'it' at Liverpool. The thing that amazes me is the Yanks, usually those types of business men are ultra shrewd. They must know that getting rid of Rafa would cost about 12 to 20 million and that missing out on the champions league is about 25 to 40 million. But i think the problem they have is who can you get now, to be honest I would approach Kenny and say do it until the end of the season, you know the reaction of the players and support. I think installing Kenny would give that psychogical boost that everyone needs, plus it would be a great chance to rally for the cause. I suspect though that he might have been sounded out and said no.

barnesology Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Ok, its got to the point where i cant defend Rafa anymore and he has to go now, before we miss out on 4th spot. Hold the front page!!!!, Sgcotg withdraws support for Rafa I can see there being a press conference sometime this afternoon, Rafa with tears in his eyes saying how sorry he is to the fans, but without Sgcotg's support he feels his position is untenable. Purslow will make some touching speech, remembering the good times and wishing Rafa all the best in the future. Probably get some LFCTV action mid afternoon, Sammy Lee regretfully accepting the interim managers job, saying how sad it all is but the club must go on etc. Mark this moment in history!, commeth the hour commeth the unqualified rant that was the tipping point in LFC's history. Thanks Sgcotg, keep up the good work fella.

Boca Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 (edited) It's the "Rafa to go?" subtitle that reels them in. Or even the "Rafa leaving?" one. Edited March 12, 2010 by Boca

Thanks, I hope so This may comeback on you because I am sure that Rafa has lost it, I hope I am wrong and he can get us to 4th spot and make the next season a great one. But unfortunately I think he is done and dusted at Liverpool, his eyes and body language says it all.

Stevie H Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 I've got a lot on at the moment to be honestjay's mum in as caretaker until you can reverse out of current commitments.
Boca Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 It's "Rafa leaving?" Just one minute too late Hassony.
Dominus Maximus Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 People are crazy. Rafa is the best manager for this club. One bad season is not enough for me to want to see him leave. Are we Real Madrid? I always thought that British clubs had class in respect to their managers. Anyone who can't see that lack of funds, and the worst injury record in years are a fault should be ashamed of themselves. And if Rafa leaves, so will Torres and Javier, and god knows who else. Money goes into the American's pockets, and Big Sam takes over, buys Diouf, and afterwards we can all cry about it wishing that Rafa never left, because he will be at Atletico or Milan winning stuff with the support of the fans and the board. NO MANGER IN THE WORLD could have achieved anything this year, with the circumstances Liverpool have endured. How hard is that to realize? We are all sad about the fact that 4th is slipping away, and that we don't have anything to play for. But come on. It's been 20 years since we won the league, surely you can't be in that much of a hurry.

He's been here since 2004! Lack of funds are a huge problem, the injuries have been a big problem and we've had some absolutely sickening officiating against us, but its still not an excuse for not scoring a goal at Wolves, Wigan, Blackburn, Portsmouth etc etc and barely looking like doing so. Or the treatment of Babel and Aquilani. He's far from blameless and I cant stand the people on here refusing to criticise the players but the buck does stop with him unfortunately.

It is but its not just bad is it? Its absolutely horrific! We're in danger of finishing 8th if this keeps up. I just cant see them coming back in pre season with a spring in their step under the same manager and we flick a switch and its alright again. Mind you, a new manager is only a short term solution as once his honeymoon period is over he'll face the same troubles as this manager.
