john_lfc Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 (edited) Is not a captain, dont give a s*** if i get slated for this, i'm sure others agree. He's not a leader anymore, his attitude stinks and he just looks like he can't be arsed. I don't know who should have the captaincy, but Gerrard definitely shouldn't Edited March 11, 2010 by john_lfc
Clay Davis Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Agreed. If he's lost faith in the manager or whatever I couldn't care less. He's playing for Liverpool FC and he's the captain. Show some f***ing passion.
floyd the barber Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 with it being world cup year...it seems to me hes more arsed about that and not missing the tournament through injury... Ive never seen him pull out of so many 50-50`s before this season......
Billy Dane Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Mascherano. Gerrard has never been a captain IMO, a great player but a sheite captian.

I don't know who should have the captaincy, but Gerrard definitely shouldn't Slight knee-jerk I think. He looks to me like he has just been so worn down by this season.Personally I would not swap him for any other player in the world, but then I'm biased I guess
Epic Swindle Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 What's everyone else's excuse? I'm struggling to remember one decent forward pass played into him or Torres all game.
john_lfc Posted March 11, 2010 Author Posted March 11, 2010 He's a great player and all that yeah. Captain material though? Dont think so.
Red_Rob Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 That was out 15th defeat this season. Fifteen f***ing games.
BG Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Slight knee-jerk I think. He looks to me like he has just been so worn down by this season.Personally I would not swap him for any other player in the world, but then I'm biased I guess Gerrard is an erratic captain I think. Veers between the great when he's confident in his own game and the terrible when he's playing poorly and is dislllusioned with how things are going.
Epic Swindle Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 He's a great player and all that yeah. Captain material though? Dont think so. Are we ignoring the vast number of games in the past where's he's dragged us to victory? Was he captain material then? Playing in that team would sap the passion out of the most strong minded players.
Barnesy_10 Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Reina or Masch are the only options other than Stevie
Clay Davis Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 What's everyone else's excuse? I'm struggling to remember one decent forward pass played into him or Torres all game. The point isn't about how he's playing football (although that this season has been way under-par also) its about he's leading the team. Shouting at people when he makes a mistake isn't the way to do it. He looks really pissed off all the time. Never seen any other Liverpool captain behave like this.
Nebraska Red Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 (edited) The last few games he has looked less and less interested. His workrate is way down and his inability to hit a dead ball is frightening. he almost looks like he is not even trying. He is supposedly one of the best 11 players in England and he cannot get a dead ball past the first defender. God knows what the hell is going in inside his head, but he needs to get himself sorted out as he is the one the others look to for leadership. if the others see him slacking off, so will they. Paul Ince used to shout his head off and he was abysmal. I didn't see him shout at anyone tonight anyway, even though they probably deserved it. The problem is he's dipped below his usual high standards in a team that's on a slippery slope downwards and there's no one else to step in, which most succesful Liverpool captains never had to deal with.
anfieldgaz Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 World cup year and Italy(next seasons destination IMO) on his mind me thinks!!!!
Barnesy_10 Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Capello should tell him hes dropped from England unless he starts playing well.... might see some passion then.
richwilks Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 I'd tell Masch "sign that contract and you're captain". Has to be him or Reina. Carragher clearly doesn't give a f*** any more judging by his comments on the weekend. Gerrard is on a complete sulk and if he doesn't sort it soon then he should f*** off in the summer. I've never seen a game where Kuyt looked less bothered, was attacking when we were defending and defending when we went forward.
Kop_on Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Capello should tell him hes dropped from England unless he starts playing well.... might see some passion then. Rafa should drop him. Give Pacheco a shirt
Stevie Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Rafa should drop him. Give Pacheco a shirtHim or Aquilani. We don't really have anything else to lose at the moment. Just because he's the captain shouldn't mean he's immune to being dropped. The squad isn't that bad that we don't have some decent backup. If Rafa doesn't see that now then I hope he doesn't live to regret it later. It's ultimately his head on the block.
Stevie Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Reina or Masch are the only options other than StevieWhy not add Nando to the list (providing he can stay fit).
baz2107 Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Why not add Nando to the list (providing he can stay fit). 1) as you said because he can't stay fit2) because he spends far too much time moaning at referee's and defenders to be able to lead the side
tomasjj Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Too big for his boots.Sell him after the world cup. IF the manager, whoever that might be, gets the money that is...

Kring Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 It looks like his hard is not in it any more. He's been a great captain because of his hard, not his management skills. With his hard gone there is nothing left to justify the captaincy!
