Conrad Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Can't see a thread on this one yet, so... obviously a must-win. Their pitch is f******* terrible, so its going to be a slog, and pretty it won't be. I'll be delighted with a 1-0 Assuming the Greek is back from suspension? Agger may be fit apparently. Skertl, Aurelio and Johnson all out. Reina Kelly-Carragher-Agger-Insua Mascherano-Lucas Kuyt-Gerrard-Benayoun Torres is what i'd go with. I think if Agger is fit that Rafa will play him alongside the Greek, with Carra at RBI also think Maxi will start ahead of Benni
Conrad Posted March 5, 2010 Author Posted March 5, 2010 Glo Jo supposed to be back fit Really - that would be a massive boost
Ibby Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 worst case scenario would be us back in our shells again as we have been for much of this season away from anfield. would love rafa to put an attacking team out and go for the throat - its the only way against s**** like them
fyds Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 I'll bet Maxi starts with Torres, probably ahead of Benny.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 pitch can't be any worse than the UEFA away game - maybe that was good practice.... Wigan are s****, their pitch is (was) a bog. But I saw the Spurs game the other week, the flanks are ok - so play a wide game
Falconhoof Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 I just mean, to borrow a cliche, that they like to play football. Don't care about the pitch, it should suit us not to have to play a team of bruisers who will get men behind the ball and bombard us with high balls. This isn't Stoke or Blackburn.Maybe Aquilani could be given a run ?
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Mockers...indeed. And if I read a "...I like that lineup..." post, I'll do myself in
anfield11 Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 As usual...dreaded question....who's the ref?!?! Andre Mariner
John am Rhein Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 We need to win this one so priority one has to be a clean sheet
Tosh Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 ah, the old "not lose" tactic. That's always a winner on here
John am Rhein Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 ah, the old "not lose" tactic. That's always a winner on here that's right. If we manage not to lose, it should increase out chances of winning.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Maybe Aquilani could be given a run ? Up and down the wrong side of the touchline ?
Gunga Din Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Up and down the wrong side of the touchline ? i'm half expecting him to selling golden goal tickets at our next home game
Earl Hafler Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 i'm half expecting him to selling golden goal tickets at our next home game But only to VIP's and their guests. Wouldn't want him meeting hostile fans
jimbolala Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 we should play 4-1- 4-1pepe JOHNSON CARRA AGGER INSUA MASCKUYT GERRARD AQUALAD RIERA TORRES never mind trying not to lose the game, put it to bed early
stressederic Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Rafael Benitez today revealed how Fernando Torres has been reporting for work on days off to ensure he returns to full fitness as soon as possible. VIDEO: Great goals v Wigan>>Related Links The Reds' squad were given time off after the midweek round of internationals, in which Torres played the second half for Spain against France in Paris. But such is his desire to rediscover his clinical sharpness sooner rather than later after weeks out with a knee injury, Torres arrived at Melwood for additional work in the gym. "We still we have some good players around but Fernando is a key player for us, the same as Steven Gerrard," said Benitez. "Fernando can score goals on his own so hopefully he will be okay. "He was training yesterday - even though we had a day off - so that means he wants to improve and wants to be physically well so that is also good news for us. "Fernando is not fully match fit, not really. One week ago he was not fully fit for games and he cannot be in one week - it is not a miracle. "He has to keep working and he has spent some time in the gym and he can be better every week. "I could say to you he is 50% and then he scores three against Wigan. He is improving but it is a question of games. "Sometimes it is not just your match fitness, it is if you can play well or be in the right position to score the winning goal. "Then everything changes. It is not just a physical aspect." .tv Good lad
