RP Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 I detest them. With every last drop of energy, with every last breath in my body, I will hate them. I have been legged round Manchester by their fans, I have heard the same fans (whilst I was amongst them, to all intents and purposes appearing as one of theirs - god f***ing forbid) singing happily about 96 scousers lying dead on the floor. I hate them. I despise them - I'd celebrate their plane 'not going up tiddly-up-up, going down tiddly-down-down'. But MUST or SoS?Jim O'Neill or Rogan Taylor? They have Newton Heath scarves, we have embarrasing 'DLC' advertising boards in Liverpool - the only people who see them are embarrasd to f*** by them. And our pathetic advertising boards are announced by a cryptic clue on footy forums??? F*** off.The Red Knights (sh** name) is a group of individuals who, having made their name, have decided to help their club - SoS is a group who, misguidely, see the campaign as some kind of route to personal fame and fortune. But let's blame Rafa - one of the best managers we have ever had. It's so sad. More than anything that has ever happened to our club, I see the current series of events as the most embarrasing in my lifetime. 21 years ago, the Munichs had Michael Knighton. We are 21 years, or probably more, behind them.
Bigal Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Its interesting, MUST have 78000 members, more home fans than their stadium. SOS have 2000 or 3000 and maybe it shows
Sion Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 (edited) We're acting too small time. Seriously though how much would it cost to mass produce say 12000 black t-shirts with a dead liver bird on them and hand them out everyone on the kop for a particular game? just following up on this Just done a quick quote with a website and they said around £30,000 for 12500 t-shirt with a logowhich is obviously a lot of money. It can be probably be done cheaper, but what about approaching someone like David Moores or some ex-players to at least part finance it? imagine how good it would look.... Edited March 3, 2010 by Sion
MFletcher Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Man Utd's campaign is actually working. Ours has been a complete shambles from start to finish. SOS strikes me as a group which has zero organisation and is wallowing in its own self-importance. It's not good enough. These advertising boards are an embarrassment to the campaign to out the owners. It's amateur hour. We're at the stage where the campaign to oust the owners is becoming laughable. I wasn't even surprised that the 'DLC' cryptic clue turned out to be a complete waste of time. Just what the f*** is going on?

David Moores and a couple of ex-players (who exactly?) vs the wealth that those c***s have access to?

Sion Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 you don't need a logo - an all black Kop would be just as visually dramatic that's probably a very good point. but trusting the majority of the kop to wear a black t-shirt? not gonna happen is it? gonna get all sorts of idiots not knowing what's going on and ruining it. They need to be prodded.

It's not laughable - it doesn't register on the scale of public acknowledgment to even warrant a comment. The SoS/ShareLiverpool movement is as good as non-existent. The mancs have got proper people involved - not a bunch of local, passionate, desperate fans who love the club as much as life itself. They have serious business people, who also happen to love the club, running the show.

They need to be prodded. then that should be it - from now one everyone wear a black shirt/T-Shirt - those who don't have one can borrow one from Wayne no-one needs to lay out £30k, numbers grow match on match as word spreads what it's all about - shouldn't take more than 2 games and hey presto an all black Kop, no impact on the vocal backing of the team but a black sea of 12,000 behind the goal sorted

They need to be prodded. There's a key difference ... in the last week, I have spoken to fans of all sorts of clubs who have spoken to me about the 'Newton Heath campaign (even if they haven't all be able to articulate it perfectly). Supporters of clubs such as Arsenal, Celtic, Barcelona, Bayern Munich (Muuuuunich), Reading, St Johnstone, Falkirk, Chelsea, Southampton ... all sorts). They are organised, we are small-time. It's gutting.
MFletcher Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 s*** idea. People like to wear their shirts to games. If it's cold, they'll put on a jacket instead of wearing the shirt etc. The scarf is a great idea because people can wear it in all weathers, they can wave it around at the end of games etc. Just copy the idea. Who cares if the Mancs came up with it? They should be f***ing applauded for running a campaign that's actually proving worthwhile. Learn from it and copy the things that work and avoid the things that don't.

Jarg Armani Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Love the passion of the original post RP, never seen that in you before. That's all I've got to say on the matter I think. My thought about their campaign compared to ours are very mixed.
BG Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 They are organised, we are small-time. It's gutting. While admiring the effort that many have gone too re SoS it's impossible to disagree with the basic point that there's an absolutely vast difference in the capabilities of the two organisations.
RP Posted March 3, 2010 Author Posted March 3, 2010 Our fans can wear what they like - it'll be summer before anyone gets round to anything ... and it'll die out before September. But the point is not (just) 'wearing something notable' in the ground - that's important but a million miles behind getting the right people in to run the project. I dunno what time of year that might happen, but it'll be just after hell freezes over. Love the passion of the original post RP, never seen that in you before. That's because you don't know me - honest, straight up comment that (not like 99% of my posts on here that are just 'having a laugh'), not designed to offend.

Much as I'd like to, I have neither the time nor the finances to fly over to games every week. Anyway, the scarves being waved around on Sunday prompted the commentator to bring his commentary back to that issue. What happens on the Kop with people wearing black shirts? It might be mentioned at the start, but then everyone will look motionless on the TV and the commentator won't bother mentioning it again. It's just a crap idea that's too difficult to put into practice. People can buy a scarf on the way there - they don't need to buy it, stop, strip off and change their shirt.

And that's the kind of ridiculous detail that our fans get hung up on. Whilst the world's press talks about the manc campaign to rid themsleves of their evil septic owners, we talk b*llocks about the inconvenience of changing our shirts on the way to the game. Can't disagree. Even though you have to admire the effort of those involved in SoS/ShareLFC there's really a vast difference between the capabilities of the organisations. It's all about motivations/dstractions, in my book.

Sion Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 black scarves then....with dead liverbirds on them to make the idea stand out a bit more (i'm not obsessed with dead birds, honest)

Gunga Din Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 (edited) all black, no logo's, get all the banners blacked out as well, just staple binliners over them. that huge banner that passes over the Kop blacked out would make a huge statement. black scarves. and if some c*** comes on here with "its just copying the mancs blah blah blah", well, you now what, i dont care. we need to start making this visable. we play Portsmouth on Monday 15th what about a "Black Monday" Edited March 3, 2010 by Gunga Din
