Chelsea King, a 17 year old girl from Poway, California went missing last Thursday (Feb. 25). It is with great sadness that I inform you of the news that her body was found a little after 2PM local time. I was unable to join the massive volunteer search effort, but from what I've been told the community really showed their support and gave their time.

 

An arrest was made last week; that of John Albert Gardner III. He is a registered sex offender, and was convicted of "lewd and lascivious acts against a child under 14" about a decade ago. After serving just 5 years of his prison term, against the better judgment of a psychiatrist, he was released. Under Megan's Law in the US, sex offenders are required to register with local law enforcement with the information made open for the public to view.

 

Unfortunately this wasn't enough for this young girl.
