anfield11 Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 (edited) ...... like Sheffield or Newcastle, or many many others I'd campaign to have the United dropped. Afterall what's the point when the media think there is only one United?!? http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_5997961,00.html Group considers United bidFinanciers in secret meeting to discuss potential takeover offer Last updated: 1st March 2010 Sky News sources understand leading city financiers have met to discuss a potential takeover bid for Premier League champions Manchester United. Representatives from law firm Freshfields and investment bank Goldman Sachs, among others, are understood to have been involved in the secret meeting. Informally known as 'the Red Knights', the group held talks regarding a potential offer to buy out the Glazer family, who are unpopular with United fans. The mammoth debts at Old Trafford have recently sparked a green and gold protest from supporters as the fans call on the Glazers to leave the club. A £500million bonds issue has been used to help refinance the debts, and Sky sources understand the Glazers are not looking to sell. However, Keith Harris, who has been involved with the group considering a potential takeover, recently called on supporters to start boycotting matches in an attempt to force the Glazers' hand. Ostrich Man Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 ...... like Sheffield or Newcastle, or many many others I'd campaign to have the United dropped. Afterall what's the point when the media think there is only one United?!? Personally I think United should start legal proceedings against the other clubs who sully the "United" name by using it. I think theres clearly a case as around the world there is indeed only one United and having these other lesser teams being able to reflect in our glory in this manner is wrong.
The Hitman Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 "Representatives" from Goldmans and Freshfields implies that the two firms are thinking of buying into United. As far as I'm aware,Freshfields has no plans to diversify into football club ownership.....

Andy @ Allerton Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 I wish we could only open topics like this WHEN they've gone bust. Unless they've been sold into slavery, Old Trafford has been demolished and their name has been stricken from history, then I'm not really interested.
Maldini Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 (edited) To be honest this whole Red Knights thing made me think, where are our wealthy fans? We could do with a few coming together to get rid of the Yanks. Surely we have similarly wealthy fans? Edited March 2, 2010 by Maldini

anfield11 Posted March 3, 2010 Author Posted March 3, 2010 Red Knights really is a bit of a s*** name isn't it. No s***i*r that Red Devils.....which is pretty damn lame too.
adiman Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 My hometown club are United and are also MUFC so there's only one United for me
mally Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 No s***i*r that Red Devils.....which is pretty damn lame too. At least they've thought this one up themselves though, unlike Red Devils.
Duncan Disorderly Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Isn't one of the main Red Knights players very high up in Goldman Sachs and the Glaziers are trying to have him sacked. Says more about modern football than anything else and we, as true football club fans, should be supporting this stance.
Falconhoof Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 what stance am I supposed to be supporting ? The Glazers ? the sacking or corporate bankers ?
