At least last night it was.. major storm hit us. 40 mph winds, gusts up to 70mph. The weather station on top of Mount Washington recorded a gust at 130mph (although that’s probably normal up there – their record is 230mph…).

You could actually feel the house sway in the big gusts… not a comfortable feeling. My wife suggested we sleep in the basement for safety (as we have some very big trees near the house) to which is suggested that she was worrying to much (then lay in bed thinking that she might be right).

There were roof tiles lying in the yard this morning and 3 roofs opposite had been damaged – one house had the tiles from ½ the roof lifted off. Luckily the tiles weren’t from my house – not idea who they belonged to but I’m betting that they had an uncomfortable night as we had about 4 inches of rain as well.

It was very concerning all told. After being though that I cannot image how terrifying a full blown hurricane must be to live through.

About ¼ of the state has no power this morning and loads of roads are blocked due to downed trees and powerlines.

All that and no snow!!
