I really feel for anyone that feels they have to listen to the commentary on Sky. I haven't listened to any commentary by Sky on LFC in around 2 years now - it just annoys the s*** out of me - so I tend to watch it with the sound firmly set to 'off'.

Recently there have been (What I thought) were a few (more) random discussions on (Still!) 'Zonal Marking' and also 'The two defensive Midfielders' and rotation..

I was a bit surprised that this was still going on and I was trying to get my head around why someone wouldn't want the midfielders (or at least what they are doing) where they are..

Then I (misguidedly) decided on watching the replay of the Liverpool v Everton game to try it with the sound on for once.

Hilarious! To say Andy Gray hates Liverpool is a massive understatement. For instance when Fellani shoved someone in the face in the area there was 'no contact' and 'he couldn't understand why the referee had given a freekick.. wrong decision' - he was the only person on planet Earth that 'didn't notice' the Fellani stamp on Kyrgiakos. When Kuyt was booted in the face by Fellani he 'didn't see anything wrong with it' and 'Kuyt was only claiming contact with the face' (Although Gray was stonily silent on the angry mark on Kuyts' face for the rest of the game). Every 50/50 or borderline incident was greeted by Gray seething and saying Liverpool were 'really going in hard' and countless off the ball fouls by Everton were greeted by a stony silence. The best bits, of course, were the constant banging on about Zonal Marking (again) and then Everton conceding from.. Man Marking after he'd been saying how great it was and then.. no comment.. No comment at all about Man Marking being to blame. Perhaps if Everton have been zonally marking they wouldn't have had a player and a goalkeeper concentrating so much on one player and actually attempting to play the ball.

Hard to believe that this idiot is still commentating (Most games I watch on Sky as I said - even non Liverpool ones are watched in my study while I'm doing something else - with the sound off) and I must admit that I've been a bit confused about some articles I've read online, having usually just gone to the match and not hearing what this clown is banging on about continually - but now I've heard him again - it's clear that some of the papers must not only watch the game on Sky - but they seem to base some of their opinions on this whoppers opinions.

He's clearly an idiot and it's hard to believe that anyone could argue that he doesn't despise Liverpool.

He just sounded utterly gutted from beginning to end.

The lack of comment on Kuyt's mark on his face was odd. Gray didn't seem to notice and the only thing that t*** Andy Burton said during the post-match interview was "Well, you can show your grandchildren your scar and saw you got it in a Merseyside derby".

I enjoy listening to Sky's commentary, it gives me a vast sense of intellectual superiority, even if it is only over andy gray.

I am normally at the game, ergo I am superior to everyone in the world

Besides, it gives one a good reference point - i.e., take the opposite view of what the twunts on TV (especially Charlie Nicholas) are saying.

ESPN's between the lines or whatever its called was just as bad last night with Craig Burley and Oliver Holt. Both just stopped short of saying the wanted liverpool to fail and miss 4th. Holt was disappointed with match as he likes Everton, their managers and players and wanted then to play well cause they are a good team, so he was disappointed. Liverpool no credit, ref got no discredit and he was disappointed cause again cause he likes Everon and they are a good team.

I was puzzled by the exchanges to be honest. When Stubbs suggested Liverpool could now possibly look at 3rd place as a possibility, Holt and Burley where disappointed cause....

It's so obvious Gray doesn't like Darke, too. He's always rude and dismissive to him.

I had noticed that, when I was forced to listen to them....

It was such a relief finding that I didn't have to listen to biased pricks anymore, took me back to when Sky BSB first started up, with a bit of fiddling you could blank out the commentary and just listen to the crowd.

How do they get the title of 'commentators' anyway? They don't commentate on the game... only comment with absurd facts from the archives. Martin Tyler has to be the biggest waffler of all time, by the time he finishes off dishing out facts with big long silences between sentences, you've forgotten what he started out saying. If I had 2 blokes like Tyler and Gray sat in front of me on the Kop chuntering away throughout the game, they'd soon get told to STFU. a*****s!

I can't believe I've lived this long without knowing this. This will make my football viewing so much better. Thanks

i have said this in a different thread, but not having to listen to sky, especially andy gray and others of his ilk make for watching a much more enjoyable game.why get annoyed and worked up about what some biased wnaker says on tv,it's not worth it and if you are stuck with having to listen to that shower every match i pity you as you dont realize what you are getting/missing.Not that the commentators i am listening too are anything but rubbish they aren't nearly as biased and sometimes make a good point.

(but you still have Sky Sports???)

(Irony isn't your strong point then?)
