Cobs Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 couldn't see a thread so...... they're in good form at the moment but we know they're gonna come and park the bus and try and nick one from a set-piece regardless - really hope we stick to a positive line-up - i.e. not 2 holding midfielders Reina Carra Kyriakos Skrtel Aurelio (heard he's back in training) Kuyt Aquilani Masch Riera Gerrard Ngog will do for me. We've not given them a good beating at Anfield since Stevie G got sent off early back in 2006, so we're due !
whitewidow Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 Reina Carra Kyriakos Skrtel Insua Babel Lucas Masch Riera Gerrard Kuyt Can't see Aquilani starting...
Sion Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 Liverpool 1-2 Everton Kuyt 21Cahill 89, Ferguson 90+5
Swipe Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 Me either. Would be surprised if it's not Lucas and Masch in the middle.
Cobs Posted February 4, 2010 Author Posted February 4, 2010 Me either. Would be surprised if it's not Lucas and Masch in the middle. is what i'm expecting - but if I were Moyes that's what i'd hope for too
CarraLegend Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 Just win, dont care how or by how many. Actually preferably by a single goal with a dodgy refereeing decision but given the horrificly biased Martin Atkinson is reffing I cant see that. We'll be lucky to win with him reffing. If we dont beat these the next week at least is ruined before its even began, I despise these so much.
johngibo YPC Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 Me either. Would be surprised if it's not Lucas and Masch in the middle. I'll be staggered
Gunga Din Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 cant see Aquilani being in the starting 11. would like to see a stright 4 4 2, gerrard on the right, Riera on the left, and Kuyt and Ngog up front.

FirstDescent Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 have you ever watched a game when Kuyt plays as alone striker? multiple
Gunga Din Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 multiple and you reckon its the way to go? what does your Labrador think?
Stevie H Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 cant see Aquilani being in the starting 11. would like to see a stright 4 4 2, gerrard on the right, Riera on the left, and Kuyt and Ngog up front.why would you concede the midfield to everton before a ball has been kicked?
CarraLegend Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 I dont mind Kuyt up top on his own at home that much (see Spurs), its just away where you're under more pressure and need some composure or pace to counter attack its absolutely awful. At Anfield we can get away with it though obviously its far from ideal.
Gunga Din Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 (edited) why would you concede the midfield to everton before a ball has been kicked? why, you think a midfield 4 of Gerrard, Masch, Lucas and Riera wouldnt be able to cope? these c**** are there for the taking. a 2 up front would force them deeper and ideally keep the pressure off our defence, personally, i dont think we will see that, Gerrard will probably play off the striker, and either Maxi or Kuyt on the right. if Kuyt plays on the right, then it will be Gerrard behind Ngog Edited February 4, 2010 by Gunga Din
sutty Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 why would you concede the midfield to everton before a ball has been kicked? In that formation Kuyt would drop in anyway I think
Gunga Din Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 In that formation Kuyt would drop in anyway I think yep. and i also think its high time we stopped worrying about everyone else and started letting them worry about us
Stevie H Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 why, you think a midfield 4 of Gerrard, Masch, Lucas and Riera wouldnt be able to cope? these c**** are there for the taking. a 2 up front would force them deeper and ideally keep the pressure off our defence, personally, i dont think we will see that, Gerrard will probably play off the striker, and either Maxi or Kuyt on the right. if Kuyt plays on the right, then it will be Gerrard behind Ngogagainst 5 of their's it would, yeah. because they'd have an extra man sat in deep every time we attacked so we'd end up playing balls in the air towards kuyt and ngog which their two centre halves would lap up and they'd have a spare man in front of the defence to pick up the pieces. we've better footballers than them, so we win the midfield first and force them onto the back foot, bringing our three behind ngog (presumably) and our fullbacks further up the park. i realise this isn't the greatest scenario when one of them is carra, but hey. agree with your last line. 4-2-3-1 against these and we'll win it. 4-4-2 and we risk having holes and a massive gap between our midfield and front 2 with no room for fullbacks to press up.
FirstDescent Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 and you reckon its the way to go? what does your Labrador think? its not the lineup i want to see, but its the one i think rafa will go for. kuyt will try n run the everton fullbacks ragged and maybe get a goal if it falls to him. we are all expecting everton to park the buss, thus no room for ngog to run into... thats until kuyt have drained them and ngog comes on to burry one... im a cat person just so you know
Stevie H Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 In that formation Kuyt would drop in anyway I thinkhe would have to. in which case there's no point starting it. there's a lot of reasons that top teams, in fact pretty much every team, don't play a flat 4-4-2 any more. yep. and i also think its high time we stopped worrying about everyone else and started letting them worry about usthat's kevin keegan style management though.
goose island Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 agree we should have enough about us not to worry about them. having said that fellaini and cahill from set pieces scare the s*** out of me, and if saha turns up i reckon he can also be dangerous. they'll look to contain us like anybody's business, so it's up to us to take it to them from the off and get an early goal. they'll probably also look to shadow gerrard's every move. also just remembered how much of a dismal time pienaar gave insua at the pit this season. if he plays he'll be relishing more of the same. i'm never confident for the derby. s***.
Andy @ Allerton Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 I'd have Lucas and Masch in the middle and Gerrard and Riera wide personally with Aqua behind Kuyt up front.
