pipnasty Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Don't know if anybody got to see Simon Reynolds at FACT last year talking about what he terms 'the hardcore continuum' or the lineage between reggae (specifically bass), pirate radio, bleep, breakbeats, hardcore, jungle, rave, garage, dubstep, funky and grime in the UK. It's absolutely fascinating stuff as you can see here; http://fact.tv/videos/watch/518 On a personal level, I think I am more excited about the state of UK electronic / dance music now than at any time since the late 80's / early 90's. It's devastatingly good at present. People like Scuba, Ramadanman, Burial, Mosca, Martyn, 2562, Raffertie etc, etc, etc. Just stunning stuff. A few links here, String Theory - Raffertiehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ghyjzvCeO4 Nike - Moscahttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOSwp9TiSlQ Shreds - Appleblim Anyway - f*** it. The FACT thing is well worth looking at.
