CarraLegend Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 What do we make of it? It seems to be getting a bit out of control now with even reports that their people come to England today, no denials, Rafa was offered the chance to deny it and didnt on the beeb. I personally think he'd be stupid not to look at the offer given the state we are in. And maybe a fresh start for both sides might end up good.
Maldini Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Given the fact they tried to get rid of him when things were going well you couldn't blame him if he's told his agent to put the feelers out.
psl Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 I think they want him and I think he's keeping his options open. He'd be mad not to. I saw that they were linked with Dirk too.
Billy Dane Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 A few things sprint to mind for me: 1) Rafa wants to have options, so he's not discouraging Juve and waiting to see who else registers their interest. 2) He's testing the commitment of the owners (current or new) and the fans in wanting him to stay. 3) He's stirring things up to take the focus off the players to give them some breathing space.
Couldbe Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Tough choice for Rafa, Juve coming in and approaching his agent with a good offer, lots of pro's for accepting the offer plus not many major european clubs will be looking for new managers in the summer.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Read in the paper that they have seen his contract and dont have to pay him as much as Liverpool because of the tax situation will see him better off - even willing to put in an offer for Kuyt to attract him
Paddy 66 Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 I hope they're not true as I'd be gutted if Rafa left.
Leo No.8 Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Rafa would insist on a Kuyt clause in his contract, no way he's going anywhere without Dirk.
CarraLegend Posted January 28, 2010 Author Posted January 28, 2010 Is Momo still at Juve ? Yeah, he spoke well of Rafa today.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Is Momo still at Juve ? Yeah, same article that I read said Rafa had pinpointed him as Mascher's replacement this Summer
Sion Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 This is possibly the only situation whereby we could afford to get a top manager replacement - if they give us a pay-off for him and we use it to entice someone like Hiddink or Mourinho although we'd likely get Gareth Southgate and put the millions off the debt.
CarraLegend Posted January 28, 2010 Author Posted January 28, 2010 He's got a PC tomorrow and no doubt will get pounded with questions about it. A lot of the reports about it so far just seem to detailed for it to be nothing, Blanc is flying to England, meeting Benitez lawyers, he has 4 staff members he wants to take with him etc etc. Juve currently winning away to Inter though Ferrera looks completely miserable on the bench.
Nebraska Red Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 (edited) According to Sky Sport Italia, a meeting has taken place between Juventus and the legal team of Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez in Milan, with the Bianconeri pushing for a deal that will see the Spaniard take over in Turin immediately. Reports have been rife in the press all week that tonight's Coppa Italia game against Inter will be the last on the bench for coach Ciro Ferrara, who will then move upstairs into a director role. A whole host of names have been linked as Ferrara's successor, including Giovanni Trapattoni, Guus Hiddink, Alberto Zaccheroni and Claudio Gentile. The latter duo were believed to be the favourites, with speculation that one would take over on a short term contract until the end of the season when a big name would be appointed on a permanent basis. One of these big names was Rafa Benitez, who had emerged over the last few days as the favourite for the permanent position. However, Sky Sport Italia are now claiming that a meeting has taken place in Milan between Juventus and the Benitez legal team, with the Old Lady hoping to entice the Spaniard to Turin immediately. These reports have not been confirmed officially by either club, but there have been widespread reports today that Juventus president Jean-Claude Blanc flew to England to discuss this move. More should become clear in the coming hours, but the fact that Benitez has a contract until 2014 and Liverpool are on the verge of economic collapse [/bmay mean that the Merseysiders will be happy to release the ex-Valencia man and not have to pay him compensation. http://goal.com/en/news/10/italy/2010/01/28/1765832/juventus-meet-rafa-benitezs-lawyers-spaniard-to-take-over the media are just falling over themselves to twist the knife. not sure I would go anywhere near Italty if I was Rafa, unless he is going to get a huge contract. the Italians are not exactly known for their patience when it comes to managers, and, he has little to work with over there in Turin. CarraLegend Posted January 28, 2010 Author Posted January 28, 2010 the media are just falling over themselves to twist the knife. Good, maybe more people will wake up because there are still people out there who dont think anything is wrong.

Are Juve quite well off? I thought they were pretty skint? I can't imagine us being willing to just release Rafa, it would cost a bit to satisfy us I would have thought.
stressederic Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 I've been totally out of the loop for a few days. What Rafa to Juve stuff?

Nebraska Red Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Good, maybe more people will wake up because there are still people out there who dont think anything is wrong. I doubt that there are many who feel nothing is wrong. there may be many unsure where to put the blame. the clowns would love it as they could go and get their puppet in place and dice and slice the club into obscurity.
CarraLegend Posted January 28, 2010 Author Posted January 28, 2010 I doubt that there are many who feel nothing is wrong. There is absolutely loads out there, loads.
Sion Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 I doubt that there are many who feel nothing is wrong. I'd say 95% of our fan base are ignorant to what's going onThey either don't understand or care.
smithdown Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 I'd say 95% of our fan base are ignorant to what's going onThey either don't understand or care. And prefer to moan about formations
Nebraska Red Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 There is absolutely loads out there, loads. Maybe being 5000 miles away isn't such a bad thing every now and then. I'd say 95% of our fan base are ignorant to what's going onThey either don't understand or care. so most of our fans are the equivalent of the Ood The Ood are born with external hind brains which are removed during processing to become subservient slaves.
Maldini Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Juve get about €100m a year from selling their games don't they?
