Some interesting ones. Particularly the tackling top 5

It also reminded me that some mental people on here don't think Fabregas is that good

I was only saying to our kid the other day I'd like to see Lucas's opta stats.

I don't know anything.

Cue the "bet all his passes are backwards etc. etc." posts.

If only Lucas himself was as fast as his crack team of forum knights!

Well they deffo aren't assists

He has exactly the same number of assists as his midfield partner Mascherano - 1 each - and last season provided two assists to Mascherano's one in far fewer appearances.

Kind of what would be expected from defensive midfielders. Alonso, our other defensive midfielder last season, only provided 3 assists out of 77 league goals last season, so it's clear that assists aren't what should be expected from players in that role, like Lucas this season

reminds me of when Phil Babb was the top passer in the premier league

i remember that...95/96 season? 99% of stats, as they say...

We should consider offers from Wenger that seek to swap Fabregas + money for Lucas.

Did he hit the post with the other 1% ?

Be f*ckin nice though, wouldn't it? So would the odd goal.

We know Mascherano's game, and we know Alonso's. Just trying to figure what Lucas's is cos it's no use watching him. His stats are boss, though. On the pitch it looks like he struggles to control anything, slows everything down, half-trips himself up then knocks off a bouncing ball to someone who is already being closed down.

It's as if it doesn't matter that Lucas does the job he's selected to do better than pretty much any other player in the league. He's not as dynamic as Mascherano, and can't dictate play like Alonso (but then few can). He's a water carrier, but he does his job well, and he's still got time to improve. The biggest problem with his game - and this can't be improved - is that he lacks pace.

Played an important - unspectacular but steady - role last season when we were flying, and has been the same this season when we've been struggling.

I think that's accurate, but in a season in which we've struggled, it's fair to ask whether that is, in some part, down to the presence of a mere water-carrier in midfield.

Of course it's not Lucas's fault that he is what he is.

(well, alomost)

12 in 15 or so games is what's so phenomenal, particularly since for a good few of those he clearly wasn't fully fit..

I don't think so. Certainly there have been some games where Lucas and Mascherano didn't both need to play, but our defending has been shocking - not in terms of our midfield letting runners into the box who score, but the basics of defending - from our defenders - has been missing and there has been too many individual mistakes. Our attacking play has been poor, but I blame this on the team and the tactics - we're slow and cumbersome, and our attackers haven't been moving off the ball enough. When we play with 2 holding midfielders, it's largely up to the 4 attacking players to create and score, and they haven't done it enough.

But even with this poor attacking play, if our defenders had been as solid as they have been the last few years (and able to defend for 90 minutes) we'd be in a much better position.

fabregas is a great player. arsenal are s*** without him in the team. Hes an annoying little s*** but a great player.

There are people on here who think he's average. I'm sure Hassony is one

That means, statistically speaking, If Torres just took 12 shots a match we'd win get at least 4 goals a game.

I'd consider an 8-1-1 formation with Gerrard behind el nino.

Each game @ 4-0 = 152 goals for, 0 against and 114 points.

We'd win the bloody league!

part of our problem this season is to get torres in a position where he can actually take a shot. it took us 93 minutes against villa to give torres a decent opportunity and he took the first one he got
