606: DEBATE

"For all the chat from other fans at the start of the season about a squad full of strikers we're now down to Bellamy, Tevez, Robinho and Benjani"

bellend south

So you've still got 4 strikers to choose from. 3 of which are internationals. Its a hard life

With all the "Aquilani is the worst signing ever' hyperbole, I can't remember anyone questioning Hughes / City paying 17.5 million for Santa Cruz, who although clearly a decent player who has proved he can make it in the Prem, has hardly played for 2 years, and like Aquilani seems to have one injury after another (as well as apparently having a bit of knee knack).

you forgot the big difference, Cruz was signed by a Brit, not one of those johnny foreigners. he may be managed by a foreigner now, but that's beside the point.

They're too busy slating the signing of Robinho in case you haven't noticed, rather than one that has gone under the radar during the orgy of spending at that club.

They are bringing in Flamini on loan until the end of the season.

They're trying to according to SSN - not done though yet.

Did Jo cost them £17m ?

Yep - some reports even say 18-20 million. Another horror signing that's gone largely unnoticed.

By you?

It was a running joke for ages

Running joke perhaps, but did journalists repeatedly use it as a stick to beat Hughes with?

They did until he was f***ed off in the next window on loan after one goal, and they then got Robinho in who Hughes was asked and teased about after virtually every match, from his body language to his travel arrangements.

Man City fans were heard to complain often about the respect not shown to Hughes as he wasn't a Sky Four manager.

The Manchester City forward Robinho believes his return to Santos is "90% certain" to go through in the next few days. The Brazil international has been unhappy to find himself on the bench in recent matches and yesterday admitted he could have played his last match for City as he seeks more playing time ahead of the World Cup.

Robinho, who scored in the 4-2 FA Cup fourth-round win at Sc***horpe, is now even more confident that he will be going back on loan to Santos, his first club, following meetings last night between his agent, City and representatives of the Brazilian side.

"It's all on the right track," he told TV Globo this morning. "Santos are now looking at the duration of my loan. "Santos want a year, but City want just six months. It's 90% certain. In two or three days it should be sealed."

Reports suggest Robinho, who joined City in a £32.5m move in September 2008, is set to take a pay cut to move back to Brazil with the Eastlands club also continuing to pay part of his wages.

The 25-year-old progressed through the ranks at Santos and played over 100 matches for them before leaving to join Real Madrid in 2005.

The Santos president, Luis Alvaro Ribeiro, has also revealed that the deal struck with City could allow the Manchester club first refusal on the talented youngsters Paulo Henrique Ganso and Neymar.

"They want the first choice to buy the two boys," he said. "That does not bother us because we sell the players for the best offer. If City have the conditions to match the offer, they can have the players."

Roberto Mancini, the City manager, has stated his desire to keep Robinho but following the win over Sc***horpe did say he would allow the player to leave if he was unhappy.

A successful signing, then?

Robinho was bought for him by the evil owners

Sven bought Jo

It's weird that they have bought veira, and are intersted in Flamini (on loan), Cordoba (on a free) and a right back from Roma (on loan)

have they ran out of money or something?
