Bailo Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 It's Degen. So presumably yes. Thought he looked quite bright though. Didn't seem to have the same crippling lack of confidence that the others did.
D.Boon Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 It's Degen. So presumably yes. Thought he looked quite bright though. Didn't seem to have the same crippling lack of confidence that the others did. He was our best player. What that says about him or the team i don't really know.
fred milne Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Thought he looked quite bright though. Thought he looked awful myself.
MikeK88 Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Thought he looked awful myself. He did make a couple of decent driving runs up the wing, cutting in a few times too. The rest of his performance was in par with the teams.
Bailo Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Awful? I didn't see him do much wrong defensively and he was a definite threat down their left - should have had a penalty if we got the Yossi one given against us.
honourablegeorge Posted January 14, 2010 Author Posted January 14, 2010 I'm just trying to understand the logic of bringing on SKrtel.
Hassony Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 I'm just trying to understand the logic of bringing on SKrtel. who would you have brought on?
cymrococh Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Awful? He got ahead wellenogh but was completely clueless when he got there.
Bailo Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Neither was a penalty. He got ahead wellenogh but was completely clueless when he got there.Well exactly, but if you're giving one, you've got to give the other. I thought he did quite well cutting inside a few times. Not sure he's anything other than backup though.
MikeK88 Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 who would you have brought on? If Degen wasn't injured then I would of taken off Lucas and brought on Pacheco. If he was injured, then it was a logical sub.
Swipe Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 He was okay. Some good runs but didn't know what to do with the ball once he got into a decent position.
Andy @ Allerton Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Degen has played pretty well every time I've seen him. I've got no idea why some seem to have such a downer about the lad.
john_lfc Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Had a good game last night, gets forward well, seems alright on the ball People give him a hard time for no reason
MikeK88 Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ryyCflZ3P-A His 'highlight' reel (all 2 games shown) seem to show exactly what he was doing last night, getting forward but not really doing anything once there. Still though, guess it can be improved.
Leo No.8 Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Last night told me nothing to change my opinion that there is a player in there with Degen, if he could stay fit enough to play a few games consecutively. He gets forward well at times and is decent enough defensively.
MFletcher Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 I think he's pretty solid as a back-up. Works hard up and down the wing as well.
Billy Talbot Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Rafa said after he was suffering with cramps. So... All 3 substitutions enforced by injury... Great.
FirstDescent Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 He was okay. Some good runs but didn't know what to do with the ball once he got into a decent position. What is he supposed to do once he is free of his marker? Stick it in the net and discuss his options later? We're massively outnumbered when we attack, two players in the box. We're so static in the middle that it dosnt matter what we do out wide.
Raj Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Rafa said after he was suffering with cramps. So... All 3 substitutions enforced by injury... Great. He looked fecked at the end. I wasnt surprised to see him come off and Skrtel was the correct move. But some people see what they want to see
richwilks Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 He's a better player than a lot on here give him credit for, how you can judge he's s*** by seeing him play about 90 minutes in 2 years is beyond me. You can slag him off for being injured all the time though.

He barely got a cross in or tried one too dribble to many. Hence the "didn't do enough with it". What you said is of course true, but he still could have done better on a few occasions. That said, I thought he was decent enough. He's a strong runner.

Walrus Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 (edited) I f***ing hate him. Well that's an exaggeration, but only Voronin was less likeable than him in our squad. Edited January 15, 2010 by Walrus
