WTF?

It was being hailed as a masterstroke by Wenger earlier on SSN. "Who are we to question Arsene Wenger" I think tw*thead Merson said.

I hope to God they take him on the big fat b*stard. I don't know who i'd rather have; The Greek or Sol Campbell.

I have no doubt in my mind what so ever, that he will make his debut for these fvckers in two weeks, and the media will spin it, that he is another talented youngster of the production line ( and this time they won't have bought him, unlike so many others)

Whilst Sol may have had a poor game, as he is yet another product of the Arsenal youth system he will undoubtedly improve in the years to come. He has a bright future at the Emirates.

It's been a weird time, first Vieira now Campbell, either there is a complete lack of players available or someone has invented an age reversal drug. Maybe they both think their current squad needs some winning experience around the place to go on a title run?

To be fair, its not really a new phenomenon : David Speedie, Gary Mac, Laurent Blanc, Michael Owen.

They made a fairly good point on SSN earlier (that such a thing happened was, in itself surprising...). Arsenal signing Campbell will raise more eyebrows than City getting Viera, but it's a less risky signing. Campbell has only been out of the prem for 6 months (and it wasn't as if he was completely useless at Portsmouth), whereas Viera, has been away for 4 years, and has been far more injury prone.

With Arsenal having a load of games coming up, I think Campbell is better back up than Senderos or Silvestre, not that this is saying too much...

Campbell leaving Arsenal when he did (mentalist issues aside) was hailed as yet more evidence of Wenger never getting it wrong when judging the time to let older players go. Yet resigning him 3 years later is also a stroke of genius. Truly, the man can do no wrong.

He wasn't far off. Pompey were shipping goals with him at the back iirc.

Jesus Christ....the bint on Sky Sports just introducing the piece on this transfer uttered the words "could an England recall also be on the cards". The world truly has gone mad.
