it is incredible reading this forum, and it just shows you what a bad run of results / trouble off the pitch does to supporters

I find myself falling out with people who, despite disagreeing with, i really respect

I wonder how polarised it will be if we put a run together?

People pissed off with losing regularly shocker. It wasn't like this in [iNSERT NAME OF MANAGER WHO RARELY LOST]'s day.

yeah I know that, my point is what happens if / when it setles down a tad...have the lines ben drawn completley or will the forum return to consensus

That's too big an 'if'. People are unlikely to be happy until we're back in with a genuine chance of landing the title. So, keep this thread for another year at least.

It's horrible on here at the moment. That Babel thread is mental. Good posters are leaving. I wish i could f*** it off, but then i'd be bored in work

Its not peoples opinions i have a problem with its the style of posting and relentless repetition (which leads to my relentless repetition)

I only really keep a regular eye on the transfer thread on the main forum and even digressed into arguing.

But as Matty says, everyone is just miserable and angry and what's going on.

and that's only because of c**** like you

It would be nice if we could have a thread that doesn't descend into a finger pointing, backslapping defence/attack of Rafa/Owners.

Its a struggle to find anything else these last few months.

Agree with Swipe and Anny respectively on this. I understand the frustration, but would hope people see the real reasons behind what is frustrating them.

On a seperate note Hicks Snr is giving it the big one today about a 'big summer' spending wise this year....hmmm - this can only be one of two things - a) more total gonads of the kind we know so well, or b) Some serious investment is coming in which, probably if true meaning Gillett is on his way as Hicks is the one doing the bragging. We shall see....no need to place bets just yet - Ladbrokes probably wouldn't pay up anyway.

Unfortunately most of the threads rapidly turn into pretty much the same posters having a pop at Rafa/each other etc and it has become increasingly tiresome. Especially on threads when you think it shouldn't or couldn't happen, so many of the threads have become an extension argument wise of each other. Will a winning streak help, I hope so but I think some posters may have become to entrenched in their views to publicly change their opinion.

One lesson we should all have learned by now as footy fans, nevermind LFC fans - is that being so entrenched in an opinion about playing/coaching staff at the club (Vog aside, naturally) it's almost inevitable you will end up getting bitten in the bum at some point, for good or bad reasons.

I don't think its a question of being "entrenched".

The problems are

it is a f***ing depressing season

we are playing rubbish

morale is low among players and supporters

the ownership situation is depressing as hell

Plus

there is one big issue which for me is clouding everything, and hence spilling into lots of different threads.

It is impossible to talk about Rafa's management of the club in isolation, because of the ownership situation. It is perfectly possible even understandable to think Rafa's time may have reached, or be approaching, the end. I happen to think so - I think momentum (from winning trophies) is a key factor in keeping players believing in a manager and what he is trying to achieve. I think that momentum has dissipated for a variety of reasons - off-field problems obviously included. But lack of trophies is the biggest derailer

But - it is also the case that the ownership situation dwarfs the on-field problems.

This makes an attempt at rational discussion confused, muddled and highly emotive.

Only on field success can detract attention from the off-field mess that permeates this club from the owners down.

When I came on here first there seemed to be a bigger sense of community than on other forums. Some people called it the ynwa clique but I always found that there was a good sense of camaraderie here. It translated itself to "the real world" as well. If you were a member of ynwa and showed up in the Oakie you were always made welcome.

Remember the "Roll call for Villa" etc etc threads? Remember Will's photo's of various pub ceilings and a big bunch of ynwa'ers out for the game? I haven't seen any thread like that for a long time.

The way I see it the problems on the forum seem to stem from the first cull which put a lot of people's backs up. There have been various other issues since then but I think most of them started around then.

And i end up posting the same replies to people who are asking the same questions - probably due to so many posts containing personal abuse that the opinions aren't read or remembered.

The main, overwhelming problem for the club and fanbase is the owners. There are the more visible problems on the pitch caused by Rafa and the coaching staff, the players and the owners due to lack of expected investment. However, the owners aren't relentlessly selecting players through poor periods of form. They didn't try to change formation after a succesful finish to the previous campaign. They aren't apparently doing nothing to improve the terrible manner in which we defend and take our set pieces.

When peoplle discuss these problems, certain posters enter the argument and want to throw most of the blame at the owners and REPEATEDLY WITHOUT REASON claim that these people are more in favour of the owners than they are of the manager. Yet they don't have anything to back that up, accompany it with personal abuse and aren't criticised as much for it - possibly because they are seen as " pro-Rafa "

The cocktail of mistakes made this season by everyone at the club has resulted in the mess we are arguing over. I doubt it'll end until the owners leave.

For what its worth i think there is a genuine debate to be had over Rafa's performance this season. It just seems sad that we seem incapable of having it

And i think both sides are as bad as each other

see, what you need to do is stand back a bit and look at the big picture. myself and yourself havent agreed on much this season on here, and we have probably annoyed each other a bit. but the bottom line is, had we been having the same conversation after a game sat in the pub then we would have been laughing with each other and taking the piss. there are very few people on here whose opinion on football i respect more than yours. But i post as i see it. sometimes i get things right. sometimes i get things wrong, but all in all, as you well know, i'm not afraid to put my neck on the line with my opinions. remember about 3 games into the 2004-05 season on the way back from Bolton i told you a certain player wouldnt make it and you ripped me for weeks? imagine had i posted that on here at the time?

I don't come on here much anymroe because of it. In dire times the team and the manager need support, and most here are no longer wanting to give it due to the owners.

I also believe that Rafa has earned a chance to pull things around, and should even be allowed a bad season. Problem is so many people behaving like Newcastle supporters. Were Arsenal fans teh same when Wenger has had issues, or needed to rebuild due to the loss of a key player?

we used to be teh best supporters in the land :(

You called that french goalie right as well, the one who looked rubbish in the warm up.

Which is all well and good, as anyone can get a 50-50 like that right with an educated guess... ;)

You wouldn't be welcome at the Oakie any more. It's shut down :)

There are still a fair few YNWA'ers meeting in town/at the KC from week to week - let us know when you're coming and I'm sure we can find a beverage for you :)

And to be honest at a club like ours there are going to be far more failures than successes.
