magneto Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 ANGRY Liverpool fans last night called for club director Tom Hicks Jnr to resign after the American allegedly called a supporter “f*** face”. In a message to concerned fan Steve Horner, an email from the Hicks Holding Ltd account of Hicks Jnr, son of the Anfield club’s co-owner Tom Hicks, first called Horner an “idiot” after he had sent an article claiming cash from player sales was being used to pay off the club’s £250million debts. But when Horner again emailed Hicks Jr's address, a reply fumed: “Blow me f*** face. Go to hell. I’m sick of you.” The emails, seen and verified as being from Hicks Holdings by the Sunday Sport, also copied in Ian Ayres, the club’s commercial director, and Philip Nash, Liverpool’s finance director. Horner emailed Hicks Jnr, along with Hicks Snr and co-owner George Gillett, with an article featuring concerns over Liverpool’s mounting debts and ability to compete in the transfer market. And the foul-mouthed response from the account of a senior member of Liverpool’s board has sparked outrage among the Kop faithful with many furious fans posting on popular internet messageboards. Jon Jones from Liverpool, a Kop season ticket holder of 25 years, fumed: “This is no way to a treat a Liverpool fan. Fans have every right to be questioning the people in power at the club as they have not delivered on their promises over a new stadium. They have also dragged the club into £250million of debt and we don’t seem to be competing in the transfer market. “Tom Hicks Jnr is in a privileged position at the club. If he has abused that power I for one want to see him step down.” Hicks Jnr has clashed with Liverpool fans in the past. In February 2008 he made an ill-advised visit to an Anfield pub after a game and was confronted by supporters. Fans have launched a campaign to oust owners Hicks Snr and Gillett from the club, led by supporters’ union Spirit of Shankly who have vowed to stop the Americans attending Anfield for future games. Last night, nobody at Liverpool FC was available for comment. Eiler99 Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 (edited) to be fair Stevie H is a bit of a f***face It actually is the poster StevieH. Just not our StevieH but the one from TLW. I was following the thread on tlw earlier. It'll be interesting to see if any of the papers run with this. I think Tony Barrett was reading the thread and I'm sure the lads over there have emailed it to other journos. Telegraph Edited January 9, 2010 by Eiler99
MFletcher Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 The Americans are clueless and incapable of representing this football club with honour. We've known this for several years though.
stressederic Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 I can sort of understand the Telegraph not quoting the f*** face bit, but it's a little odd not to have mentioned it at all.
muleskinner Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Metaphorical to the physical, great work from Jnr there. When does the claim it was spoofed come out?
magneto Posted January 9, 2010 Author Posted January 9, 2010 (edited) [stephen,I apologize for losing my temper and using bad language with you. It was a kneejerk reaction.Tommy http://www.liverpoolway.co.uk/forum/ff-football-forum/87419-thomas-o-hicks-junior-7.html Edited January 9, 2010 by magneto
Chili Palmer Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 If it meant him and his family go, I reckon someone would blow him.
Maldini Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 (edited) Metaphorical to the physical, great work from Jnr there. When does the claim it was spoofed come out? It doesn't, he's already confirmed it's genuine by apologising to StevieH. This could be a turning point if the media get on it in a big way. Edited January 9, 2010 by Maldini
Sion Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 (edited) Hopefully this will highlight to a few of the vast majority of our fans who have no idea about the incompetent fools we have running us Although a similar note, just to highlight our fanbases general lack of awareness. 5 of my 'friends' on facebook who claim to be liverpool fans joined the group ' OFFICIAL Petition from "The Sun" To ban the march' referring to the IslamUK thing. Sion Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 more ammo to load the gun with! Just a shame the gun is a water pistol!
stressederic Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Anyone would get the impression that they don't give a rat's a*** about the fans.
New York Red Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Anyone would get the impression that they don't give a rat's a*** about the fans. I'd bet my life on it.
RafaShanks Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Anyone would get the impression that they don't give a rat's a*** about the fans. Who?
stressederic Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Who? Hicks, Gillet and their cadre. Who did you think; the cast of Cats?
Clay Davis Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Hmmm... shouldn't be doing anything like that to a fan, especially given their reputation already. I've sent plenty of emails telling annoying people to f*** off mind, especially if they're constantly emailing me whinging... but doing it in this instance is inexcusable. and he's a c***.
Gerrardrules Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 (edited) Times have a few sentences on this. Several newspapers are running it. Edited January 10, 2010 by Gerrardrules
MORF Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Perhaps everything is genuine wrt the emails but the use of the phrase "f*** face" is really not that common in America. In fact, I've lived here for 17 years now and haven't heard anyone but me use it. Then again, maybe HIcks Jr has been called it that many times by the locals in Liverpool he's started using it himself.
Maldini Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Times, Mirror, Mail, Telegraph and NOTW all have it, could be more.
Eiler99 Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 (edited) Times, Mirror, Mail, Telegraph and NOTW all have it, could be more. This is brilliant. Should really up the awareness among the fans base. This is such a simple balls up by them that even the most apathetic fan should be able to draw the conclusion that these people can't be good for the club. The team's poor performances seem to have shifted a lot of supporters' anger and frustration away from the owners but this will hopefully shift attention back to the real cancers at the club. At least for a few days. It's come at a good time too with all the games being called off so the journos need alternative stories. The story is really getting out there. It also shows that we can all do our own things to make life difficult for the owners. We don't have to sit around and wait for the SOS to arrange a protest. All this started by one fan sending an email with a few questions and now the story is all over the press. This won't make them sell up but it doesn't harm our chances.
