One of the players saying they were laying on the floor under fire for 20 minutes. :(

Sky Sports news doing their bit to maintain the simpleton view that all of Africa is the same by mentioning this in the context of what it means for the World Cup in the summer :hmm:

Feck me that is shocking. Think Adebayor is the only premiership player there. Apparently some seriously injured and a lot of blood at the scene. Scary stuff.

Moustapha Saliphou of Villa is the only other English-based player according to the article, not that it really matters obviously.

Would put the tournament in jeopardy I'd imagine if it as bad as it sounds?

BBC news at ten were shocking on this.

their angle was that Adebayor had been shot at and oh some other guys as well. I don't think they mentioned the driver died.

Thats terrible. Thoughts go out to the driver and the injured

I cant believe that Arsenal fan missed though.

SSN weren't too far off that - they did eventually say their thoughts go out to the family of the driver, but until that point it seemed their only concern was that Adebayor was ok...

there's a joke in there about arsenal being the gunners but i'll leave it to someone else

Flippin heck thats shocking - tho it must be said Angola is not the place you would want to go to for a footy tournament. Some serious money must have changed hands to stage it there

There have been a lot of security concerns pre-tournament. Mainly gang/hostage taking scenarios.

The CAF seem to be implying that Togo traveled by road against advice

IIRC correctly the North of Angola is quite a dangerous area even following the end of the civil war. Very risky travelling through there.

Feckin daft holding it there if that's the case but then again sub-Sahara can be quite a lawless place, a bit like the lower 49. ;)

"Do you think Adebayor ran the length of the bus to celebrate in front of the gunners".
