Spirit Of Shankly Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 As we enter another transfer window, fans are left wondering what is going on inside the club, and second guessing who we will (or more likely won't) be buying. Spirit Of Shankly is expecting very little to happen - http://www.spiritofs...onanza-_-Sell-4,-Get-one-free!.html Let's see if Tom and George prove us wrong! Spirit Of Shankly
Falconhoof Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Have SOS had any contact with Purslow about the claim that progress is due to be made on the stadium ?
PeeG Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Have SOS had any contact with Purslow about the claim that progress is due to be made on the stadium ? We are hoping to get a meeting with him at some point soon as he said he would do last time. That question will be something that will be asked. Members will be informed if we manage to set a date with him. It was only mentioned by Warren Bradley in passing in an Echo Article. If he was that sure then I'm sure we would all be told about it. On the new site they have the pictures of the 73k stadium that they haven't even submitted the planning application for yet so it doesn't fill you with confidence. Even if they have somehow managed to find a way how to build it, questions need to be asked about how it would be funded as it would increase the debt further. That is all for another thread another time though.

Purslow will play it down while offering vague hope of investment probably.

Purslow will play it down while offering vague hope of investment probably. Its always a question that needs to be asked really as it relates to them announcing they are looking for investment. Who knows what Purslow will say on it. But we shouldn't be finding out from comments in passing, we should be finding out from the club direct. I was told by Liverpool Planning Office it was pretty much exactly a three year build so to be ready for the start of a season that building would have to start in the first part of the year, which goes along with the part in that article about building starting before April. Unless there is a change in the timeline for the build to what the Planning Office told me a start date in the latter part of the year would mean the stadium would remain vacant for longer than necessary.
Rocheteau Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 For the love of godot - we are barely a few days into the january transfer window and we are speculating about something that may or may not come to pass on the back of a couple of media articles. Has the world gone completely mad or is it my sanity that took a beating over the new year festivities I tell you what, lets just wait and see
MFletcher Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Let's wait and see? Let's not. We didn't get the Keane money from last January, we spent f*** all in the summer. Precedent suggests this is going to happen. We might as well be proactive about it.
CarraLegend Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 I tell you what, lets just wait and see Why? They arent going to change their policies, we've spent f*** all in 18 months. Can you still not see that?

And as we said, Let them prove us wrong.
fyds Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Well apparently Babel is staying, according to Rafa, and most fans have wanted shot of Dossena and Voronin for some time - couple that with the generally accepted reality that January's window is notoriously difficult to get much quality out of and they could prove you right merely be default rather than intent. The summer windows have to be the real measure. And before anyone asks, I want G&H gone before then if possible.
Hodgson for Chelsea Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Babel will go - it's just posturing.

Zoob Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Thought I'd stick it in here since it's SOS related: The minutes from the Sept. meeting between SOS and Purslow included: "We handed him the questions and he looked over them before making the comment "I was not expecting at a get to know each other meeting to have such detailed financial questions". We agreed he could take the questions away to study and that we would have a general conversation to try and address key issues and concerns where he could shed some light." - I was wondering if Purslow ever got back to SOS with answers to these detailed financial questions. It seems someone within the club is briefing the press about not spending this Jan because prices are inflated, and yet (and it's a shame the SOS statement didn't mention this) last Jan we sold Keane, but didn't spend the money in the summer. Also -the minutes included: "at the conclusion of the meeting he offered to meet regularly for catch up, probably about once a quarter either one on one or to a group meeting." - have any plans been made for another meeting?
fyds Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Babel will go - it's just posturing.maybe - but it's Rafa who's saying it and if he's not going to see the money from a sale, he probably means it.
Red Lecter Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 maybe - but it's Rafa who's saying it and if he's not going to see the money from a sale, he probably means it.Wasn't it reported that that was the reason he didn't get rid of Voronin and Dossena last summer?

He answered the financial questions on the whole though, so there wasn't really anything he had to come back with. We are always mentioning about the lack of funds for transfers and that player sales isn't reinvested. And on the catch up meeting, I already answered that question earlier in the thread. Wasn't it reported that that was the reason he didn't get rid of Voronin and Dossena last summer? Yes it was.
Jarg Armani Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 I'll say this again: The dialogue with Purslow is completely self defeating for SOS, I just can't see how it benefits the aim of getting G&H out, and I can think of lots of reasons it could potentially damage the campaign. He should be chased out of town with flaming torches, or at the very least stopped getting in the ground.

Has the world gone completely mad or is it my sanity that took a beating over the new year festivities I tell you what, lets just wait and see Geat advice, how silly of us getting all worked up over nothing, we truly are in safe hands and other than some nasty media reports there is nothing to suggest otherwise, I feel so much better now.

He said he would try and come to a mass meeting as well, and I hope some time he will be able to so members can speak to him.
Molby Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 If Rafa thought he could actually see the £9m from Babel's sale he would bite their hands off, having already pretty much written him off
Rory Fitzgerald Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 I wonder how heavily the banks are leaning on us. We all know that the debt was rolled forward for 1yr - under what conditions though ? Banks normally demand financial covenants to be adherred to and/or certain undertakings i.e. proceeds from disposals above a certain threshold have to be used for prepayment. Given that we are out on our ear in the CL and qualification for this season is questionable - the negotiations for the extension next June will be feisty. Can this angle be put to the custodians of the club - maybe they will be eager to shift the 'blame' elsewhere.
Dominus Maximus Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 and qualification for this season is questionable - the negotiations for the extension next June will be feisty. Wouldn't the banks know if we qualified or not by June?
