Lampard gets too much credit

Chelsea's Florent Malouda believes Frank Lampard is getting more credit than his performances deserve and says he is frustrated at Stamford Bridge playing second fiddle to the England midfielder. Malouda said that Lampard's status at the club is enhanced by his role as a leading England player in a World Cup year. "It's his position in the national team," said the France winger. "He plays like that in the England team, and we are in a World Cup year. But at a certain point, the status has to be in relation with the performances."

Malouda has made nine Premier League starts this season and has had talks with manager Carlo Ancelotti about his discontent. He believes Chelsea would not be willing to let him go but insists he will push for a departure if things remain the same.

"Before the match against Birmingham, I talked to the coach to tell him about my frustration," he told L'Equipe. "The frustration is above all for the big games. I'm ready to look elsewhere. Finding another club is not a problem. But the club has closed the door to any departure, whether it be in January or in June. The coach is counting on me. We'll see from now until the end of the season."

At the end of last season Malouda was linked with a move to AC Milan or Barcelona, but the 29-year-old signed a new contract in the summer, tying him to the Blues until 2013.

He definitely has a point about Lampard, but any other season recently he wouldn't have had any justification really.

As usual he'll have done himself more harm than good with that interview though. And you would have though his chances would have increased too as they're likely to go with one up front now, which may also see Lampard getting a few goals again.

Pussy

Chelsea's Florent Malouda has held face-to-face discussions with Frank Lampard and Carlo Ancelotti after being quoted as criticising them in a recent interview.

Malouda was reported as complaining that Lampard has undeservedly kept him out of the Chelsea midfield and that he is ready to look for a new team because Ancelotti, the manager, has not given him the opportunities he deserves.

"It put me in a difficult position, but I reacted like a man," Malouda said. "I spoke with the manager and with Lamps to make everything clear and tell them what I said and that in no way did those words come out of my mouth.

"It was not easy to have to do that on the day of the game, but we're big players and the situation is very clear with everybody. I just gave an interview in France which was really badly translated and that's it. The situation is clear and there are no problems here between me and the manager and me and Lamps. That's the way we have to sort out the problems."

However, Malouda stood by comments that he would like to appear in more of Chelsea's key matches. "We spoke, as managers and players have these discussions most of the time," Malouda said. "I spoke about my frustrations about not appearing in the big games because of the World Cup. It is a World Cup year and I have ambitions with the French team and want to start the big games, but that's it."

Where are all the good translators gone?

I know, French man gives interview in France, no wonder they couldn't understand him.

Pussy is right.

And Roberto Martinez too for backing down on his excellent comments about the Fergie love in.

And Arshavin for rowing back (less so, in fairness) on his criticisms of Arsenal etc etc etc

Wonder are any of these journalists taping these interviews at all. Cos if they are and the footballer goes for the usual lost in translation bulls*** why not leak the comments and sink the lying f*****s altogether.
