Regardless, with the window opening later in the week, what do you propose doing to solve the potential problems at right back in the coming weeks/months?

 

My personal choice would be to use Kelly there - assuming he's fit.

Physio room.com - not always accurate by any means - has Kelly returning in a couple of weeks. Don't think there's any chance of us buying another right back. Think we may have to risk Degen, at least until Kelly is fit, but it's possible that Johnson will only be out for a few weeks.

It'll be Carra or the Deg won't it. Hopefully Kelly isn't too far off as the less Skrtel time we get the better.

i just hope we dont move carra out there, hes far too important, with no carra at centre half for a few weeks or months we would struggle, skrtel and agger combined dont have half the aggression or leadership of carra

Against Spurs I'd play Degen there. Modric cuts inside all the time and will leave Assou-Ekotto exposed, so an attacking RB would be of more use to us than, say, Carragher.

Yeah deffo. When did he turn into a liability?

 

He was definitely good until he got his injury at city. Was he good when he came back? We had a long talk about him on the way to hull so he must have been showing signs late last season.

 

Carra definitely didn't help by nutting him, but that might be more effect than cause of his big dip in form.

I may be on the list... earlier in the season I wanted him at centreback in place of Skrtel.

 

I'm just saying for the odd game. Looking at the fixtures we've several 'easy' games between now and the Mancs in mid-March. But Spurs, Arsenal & City will cause us problems down our right. We'd lose a lot of drive but if van Nistelrooy comes in and a) settles & b) is fit he could cover. Maybe?....

Considering that Masch is still suspended for another 2 games as well as being injured himself, I somehow doubt he'll be an immediate option.

 

I don't know if Degen is actually fit at the moment (quelle surprise) but hasn't Spearing played at right back before?

I think he looks half decent, in an attacking sense. Would probably leave us vulnerable at the back but there's a few games coming up where he should be considered for selection, certainly before Carra.
