SSN had Dave Bassett on this morning to talk about the transfer window. The opening exchange was pretty much:

 

SSN: We heard Harry Redknapp there talking about Craig Bellamy. He wasn't doing anything illegal but does he use the media to let players know he wants to sign them? Does he play the media game?

Bassett: No, he's an honest manager. He doesn't play the game, he doesn't need to. He could simply let the player's agent know. Managers don't need to use the media like that and Harry certainly doesn't.

SSN: We've also heard him talking about players that may be surplus to requirement at White Hart Lane. Does he drop names like Pavyluchencko (sp) and Bentley to let other clubs know they're available.

Bassett: Yep, absolutely. Harry's a smart guy and he plays the media, uses them, it's all part of a game - a game he's very good at...
