Frosty Jack Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Just how important is this game now we've safely dispatched the mighty Wolfrun?
Jarg Armani Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 It's very important, but I'm not at all confident. And will everyone stop saying 'lumber'.

Andy @ Allerton Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 We've got every chance of winning this. Gerrard seems to have recovered something. Torres is looking more like it. Other people coming back all look less out of sorts and we've got a couple of wins recently. So I can't see any reason why we can't turn them over at Villa Park.
stonty Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Villa didn't look up to much yesterday, confident we can get a positive result & then against Spurs so at last we can progress from our 'snakes & ladders' display so far this season

Bromage Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 It's difficult to answer the opening question without descending into a string of cliches! However this game is as important as the Wolves game, the Spurs game and probably every other game betwen now and the end of the season. We are 8 points behind Arsenal, who have a game in hand and if we believe we can secure a CL place by targetting the "also-rans" then we'll be deluding ourselves. So in all probability we can't afford another defeat if we have a chance of making 8-11 points up on the a*** and even draws need to be limited to maybe 2 or 3 maximum. Saturday was my first trip to Anfield for some weeks and I was shocked at the half-hearted singing attempts from the kop and early unwarranted criticism of Lucas & Johnson from both sides of the ground. When you are frequently confined to watching games on TV there always seems to be a greater volume coming from microphones by the away fans for "balance" but this was nothing of the sort - given our form I guess I'm not entirely surprised but it's disappointing. If we lose then things can't get much worse anyway; I guess the media will then target Rafa for his commitment to 4th spot and we'll get some more speculation but really it has to be transfer activity starting this weekend that's going to determine how much backing Rafa really has from the club and how much belief they have in his "plan".
San Diego Red Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Noah's f***ing ark will be built with the amount of lumber we're allegedly due.

Sod it mate, we're due a win and a performance at some stage! I predict that the MoM markings will be 1. Torres (Hat-trick), 2. Gerrard (2 Goals), 3. Reina (Brilliant clean sheet) with another 6 or 7 that really would be on there too! We can click at any time. And tommorow is going to be it. Oh yeah!

Hodgson for Chelsea Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 I'll take any kind of result (draw or better) and any kind of win against Spurs. Don't care how we play or who scores or what dodgy refereeing decision goes our way, we need 4 points out of these six.
Jarg Armani Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 We didn't win there last season. We were better then. They are better now. They beat Chelsea there when Chelsea were good. They're enormous bullies, we're tiny flowery vaginas. There are a lot of logical reasons to expect us not to win, and only speculative optimism about why we might. I'm quite looking forward to it though.

Logic would predict a Villa win but logic is often kept on the bench or sometimes doesn't even make the squad. I reckon we'll win 2-1 tomoz.

stressederic Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 I couldn't find a video but: Marge: There it is! Lisa and Bart: Wow! Lisa: Your own billboard! Bart: Check it out! Homer: Gee, that picture makes your butt look big! Marge: I thought so too! But they said it sells. Bart: Works for the Lumber King. (Homer looks at a nearby billboard for the "Lumber King" where an electric buttocks moves separately from the sign, leading Homer into a trance) Homer (zombie-like): Lumber… We need lumber…
