As a manager, I see Rafa getting hammered in the press for spending loads of money on poor players. I then look at Alex Ferguson, and his recent history:

Carrick

Anderson

Nani

Berbatov

Llajic (sp?)

Tosic (sp?)

Valencia

Vidic

 

Despite all of these, Carrick and Vidic are the only one to make a difference to their team in recent years, with Evra, Neville, Rio, Giggs, Scholes, Rooney, Park, OShea, Brown, Fletcher etc having been there so long. That doesn't even account for ones like Veron, Rio, Rooney etc.

 

I wonder if Rafa won the title this season, would he be a genius or lucky? Would his alleged transfer spend be relevant?

Vidic hasn't been a bad buy by any stretch of the inagination, they have won the league 3 times since he signed. He can't handle Torres but he is a good defender.

 

Carragher can't really deal with Drogba and wasn't at his best marking Thierry Henry but he is still a good player.
