Ibby Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 bentley saying he wants to leave spurs in Jan according to the mirror. Possible loan signing given rafa was supposedly interested a couple of years ago before he moved for mad money? think he could be a decent addition for the right to give dirk a bit of a rest now and again. He would be a decent enough squad addition along with van horse imo
Sion Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Our team confidence is shattered. A pansy who hides in games like Bentley is the last player we need.
CarraLegend Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 I think i'd cry if we signed Bentley to be honest, gives us nothing we've not already got. He's just completely average in every way. RVN i'd like though obviously bringing in a crock to cover our crock centre forward could go a bit wrong.

Romario Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 We should sign Parker. If for no other reason than he looks a bit like Alonso.AlonsoParker
Leo No.8 Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 I can't even begin to think who could add to our team that we could purchase with magic beans. If we have £5-6m to spend, I'd ship the Greek back out to wherever for a million or so then put it towards getting Shawcross or Hangelaand in for £6-7m which would hopefully be enough for either one of them. I think those two have the right character, aerial strength and premier league experience to make a difference to us defensively straight away and I only think you sign players in January who can go straight in and contribute. In terms of attacking options, we don't have the money to spend on anyone who will make a difference. I think we should be looking at a loan deal for one of Real Madrid's castoff strikers which may suit both parties. Higuain would be ideal but not sure if he's playing at the moment, RVN otherwise. If its the former try to get an option to buy next summer if at all possible because I think he'd be great here and is still young.
CarraLegend Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 The wind up the mancs factor cannot be underestimated. Defo, if he's ok he's got a lot more to give than Owen has which is nice.
Raj Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Higuain would be ideal but not sure if he's playing at the moment, No chance that we're getting Higuain. He is playing and scored 2 against Valencia on Sat. He's scored 8 in 12 league games this season
anfield11 Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 No chance that we're getting Higuain. He is playing and scored 2 against Valencia on Sat. He's scored 8 in 12 league games this season I know, great player. The time to nab him was last season.
sutty Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Defo, if he's ok he's got a lot more to give than Owen has which is nice. When he scores for them they chant "You scouse b*****d" at him What could we chant... hmmmm
Tobes Rafa Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 put it towards getting Shawcross or Hangelaand in for £6-7m which would hopefully be enough for either one of them. No chance. I like your thinking but there is no way on God's green one that we could get either for that fee. I heard Scotty Parker mentioned on Talksport this morning and while I have always thought he is a decent enought player, another injury prone player, and a CM at that, is not what we need.
Leo No.8 Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 No chance that we're getting Higuain. He is playing and scored 2 against Valencia on Sat. He's scored 8 in 12 league games this season Ah OK fair enough. Last time I was keeping up with La Liga he was out of favour.
Sion Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 If we can effectively swap Skrtel for someone like Shawcross or Upson i'd go for it. Neither are particularly outstanding but at least they can head the ball and they'll up the english quota for potential silly rulings coming in.
Raj Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 I know, great player. The time to nab him was last season. He wasnt up for sale then either. I'm not sure where these links have come from, but they're nonsenseHe was their top scorer last season
Cam Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 My big fear for January is blowing our only £2m on Morten Gamst Pedersen. However, the upside is the £££ we'll rake in on the 'shirt naming lark' given his ever-changing surname.

Cunny Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 I can't even begin to think who could add to our team that we could purchase with magic beans. Zavon Hines?
Ibby Posted December 16, 2009 Author Posted December 16, 2009 i did say the bentley signing was leftfield the only reason why i mentioned him was that before he moved to spurs he was a decent premier league player and broke into the national side. As a loan deal for a player who has his last shot of getting into capello's squad it could be good signing for us given the fact we are skint.

He'd probably do OK at Wigan or Birmingham.
honourablegeorge Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 We should sign Parker. If for no other reason than he looks a bit like Alonso. BBC Gossip linked us to Parker yesterday. Presumably in the context of Mascherano leaving.
john_lfc Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Bentley was at Anfield on the last day of the last transfer window But the deal couldn't be done in time. Was a loan with a view of a 7million transfer Could see it happening
