madaboutlfc Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 i mean i have never seen a season like this where everygame we have some freak incident which turns the game on its head.. every game we have lost or drawn has been like this.. its like we have some kind of black magic spell cast on us.. honestly f***ing dire this campaign has been..
lfc003 Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 Hmmm...Im of the opinion you get what you deserve and since the start of pre season we have been a shambles.
Paisley Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 Hmmm...Im of the opinion you get what you deserve and since the start of pre season we have been a shambles. Me too, we haven't put in a consistent, focused 90 minute performance for a long time.

There has been a few things that haven't helped, but every team has tales of woe. I'm inclined to agree with the previous two posters.
allawee Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 Absolutely, we never complained of our good fortunes last year with the many last minute wins, which were deserved on the basis of hard work and desire...This season though, we have lacked both IMO in many games.
Rex Ham Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 Our confidence is shot to bits, a goal goes in at either end and we're all over the shop.
Nebraska Red Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 some of our players need to take a long look at themselves. we had a few out there who went through the motions in the 2nd half once we conceded a goal. if I was Torres, I'd be really pissed at some of my team mates who gave me little help for most of the game.

I think that was partly evident during the game when both Torres and Gerrard tried to do too much with the ball at times instead of laying it off and lost the ball as a result, seems like they dont have as much confidence on their team mates as they used to
Red Kent Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 Got nothing to do with curses at all. Everyone knew in the ground that Arsenal would score, it was just when they would.

Aye, and when they did, you could feel the resignation from our fans and see it in our players. What was said at half time must have been something akin to the polar opposite of what was said in istanbul as it served to make them freeze and play like a bunch of strangers. Our problems seem to begin when we go a goal up. It's happened so many times lately that you begin to fear us scoring 'cos you know what's coming.

Gerrard needs to be in the middle, a captain cannot lead his team from a forward position. The captain should be a centre half or a central midfielder. He cannot influence the game from where he plays. He is the best central midfielder around yet rarely plays there. Play your best players in their best positions.

Gerrards best position is in behind the striker. i think there is an argument for playing him right midfield with Benny in behind Nando, as the team might have a better shape, and until a few weeks ago i was dead against it, but now i think its worth a try, because at the minute the system, and the players playing it, are not effective

Red Kent Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 but not last season? There was a better balance last season, it's not there this season.
Nebraska Red Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 Disagree mate, he's needed at central midfield, he needs to dictate games from there. as much as it pains me to say this, you might be right. Gerrard may have to drop into midfield so we ca nactually create something from the middle of the park. Right now, we are as impotent as a castrated eunuch who has had a vasectomy when it comes to getting anything positive started. the commentators kept banging on the fact that Alonso's departure has really hurt us and they are correct. playing Lucas and Mascherano in the midfield is a waste of time at the moment , and we either have to play Aquilani all the time and let him fit in, or, play Gerrard in midfield and have Kuyt/ Benayoun play just behind Torres.

surfaris Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 there was little composure from rafa's football.it s all about pressing, pressuring with / without a ball, every players needs to be highly discipline & tactical. machine like? too robust.not to mention his sometime overcautious approach. in the primeirship every team is playing high tempo, little compose..except a couple good teams. it s a machine collide machine every f***in week. a team who can really balance between passing, attacking, high-slow tempo, great composure, good defense will be successful.

I see nothing in our current team that comes anywhere close to any of the requirements in your final sentence. And that is just depressing. We have nobody who can make a decentt pass, our attack is 1 man against 4, our tempo is slow/really slow/dead stop, most of our players couldn't spell composure never mind play with any, and we have a defense that has no identity and is easily breached at the moment.
