john_lfc Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Looks brilliant Thats one of the only positives i got out of tonight. Worth a game more often?
Falconhoof Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Yes, keep him in the squad and push Voronin out of a hotel window.
Paul Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Looked bright when he came on, definitely worth a shout now and again.
Leo No.8 Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 (edited) I find it astonishing he hasn't featured more until now. Looks a class above everyone else in reserve football. Have said it a few times on here, think he'll really come into his own playing with better players. Wants the ball to feet all the time and has the ability to play quick, one touch stuff and pick out a killer pass which should suit better movement. Also has the ability to score a goal from nothing, and almost did with that snap shot tonight just after coming on. Very talented kid, only going to get better but he absolutely has to be involved more regularly with the first team. He should be on the bench pretty much every week in my opinion. Billy Dane Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Great to see him demanding the ball. Be interesting to see him and Torres up front together for a few games.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 deffo - he's only 18 as well, isn't he? Looks like an intelligent player
john_lfc Posted December 9, 2009 Author Posted December 9, 2009 Is he more suited to Gerrards role or what?
Zoob Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Is he more suited to Gerrards role? Yes. Can tell how intelligent he is, and has skill to match it too. Been reading about how much he's learning from Benayoun, which doesn't surprise me... keep him in the squad and push Voronin out of a hotel window. Make it look like an accident and we might get some money on the insurance. Hopefully we'll never see Voronin ahead of Pacheco again - would just be utterly pointless as I genuinely believe Pacheco is more likely to have an impact coming off the bench
stressederic Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Where was he actually playing when he came on?
Leo No.8 Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 (edited) Is he more suited to Gerrards role or what? Yep - best position is in the hole behind a main striker. If Pacheco were to develop into a top player, he'd be made to play off Torres. Has the ability to get the ball, make a yard for himself with his touch then play Torres in. Still has a long way to go, but he could be something special. Point is now is the time to find out, not when he's 20 and it might be too late. Get him used to playing proper football whilst he's still developing and while we are short of (good) experienced forwards anyway. Edited December 9, 2009 by Leo No.8
David Hodgson Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 We have to continue to gamble on talent like this. Looks far more 'ready' than Insua ever did.
Cunny Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 I said it about 4 or 5 weeks ago when the injury crisis was at it's worst, that I couldn't understand why he was not getting a place in the 18 man matchday squad. If I see useless wastes of the shirt like Voronin and Babel ahead of him again, I'll openly weep.
Benzo-13 Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 We have to continue to gamble on talent like this. Looks far more 'ready' than Insua ever did.Ah, no. Insua looked a real prospect until this season of rut.
Mike Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 (edited) I find it astonishing he hasn't featured more until now. Looks a class above. Edited December 9, 2009 by Mike
Mike Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Ah, no. Insua looked a real prospect until this season of rut. pacheco looks more than a prospect already, thats the point.
Benzo-13 Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 pacheco looks more than a prospect already, thats the point. He looked fearless out there and a debut striker will always look exciting and create more anticipation than a left back. Anyway, was great to see him on the pitch with the first team at last.
Maldini Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 I'd have him on the bench for every game for the rest of the season and throw him in for 15-20 minutes when we can. Not only for his development, but because he's a great option and can make a contribution.

Looked a much better team when he went off. That said its a bit like taking a Honda C90 off and bringing on a Works Ducatti.
Jarg Armani Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Looked f***ing brilliant. Confident as anything, I'm coming on, I'm gonna have a shot. boom. There was only one winner until masch went off there.
Coyler Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Must have been some buzz trying to get on the end of a backheeled through ball from Torres in front of the f*cking Kop as well. No wonder he looked mad for it.
