Andy @ Allerton Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 It'll be a great night! And it is important. Just found out that you have to get a good points tally to be seeded in the next round. IF we win - then that's it - we're seeded for the next round. So we have something to play for. Hopefully the negative moaners will stay away and the postive fans will make it there and make it one to be remembered. Come you on Mighty Reds!! Aqualung might even play.

Red Kent Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 There will be no atmosphere, little happening on the park, just like a normal league game. I'll be surprised if we get over 40,000.
Sion Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Just found out that you have to get a good points tally to be seeded in the next round. Rather we weren't seeded and got a more well-known teamIt's not like we should fear any team.
Red Kent Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Is there country protection for the first round ? Andy, this could be the first derby as a married couple for you.
Sion Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Is there country protection for the first round ? Yep. Although I think we can play other CL dropouts straight away. Which will include one of Juventus or Bayern depending on the seeding.

cymrococh Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 I love the idea of mad European aways, I hate that I can't go.
sutty Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Is there country protection for the first round ? Andy, this could be the first derby as a married couple for you. Didn't we play the ev last week?

I'll be surprised if we get over 40,000. i reckon it will be closer to 30,000 than 40,000. The kop still hadnt sold out yesterday.I'd say a decent number on the auto ticket scheme will swerve it too, rather than spend out on actually getting to the game.
fred milne Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Team selection for this game is going to be tricky. You don't want to risk anybody too important but at the same time it would be good to have some quality players around Aquilani so we can see what he is capable of. Coyler Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 (edited) If Riera gets over his knock I'd have thought that him and Kuyt (even though he's so going to start against Arsenal) staying out wide would have been solid and shapely around him (and still clever). Though I like the idea of the Dosser coming back in this one and showing Fiorentina what (if anything) he's after learning in England. Edited December 8, 2009 by Coyler
Andy @ Allerton Posted December 8, 2009 Author Posted December 8, 2009 Is there country protection for the first round ? Andy, this could be the first derby as a married couple for you. What apart from the one we went to the other day at Goodison?
Andy @ Allerton Posted December 8, 2009 Author Posted December 8, 2009 I love the idea of mad European aways, I hate that I can't go. That's the good thing about this - so really good aways to be had. Always a silver lining and all that. IF we could get to Humburg and win it - then I for one would be made up. Think Dortmund was my favourite final.
Will Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Delayed slightly but.... Down Memory Lane Double Agents
Boca Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Rafa on Sky saying Aquilani to start and Torres on the bench.
Alonso Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Reina Kelly Skrtel Agger Dossena Mascherano Aquilani Benayoun Gerrard Riera N'Gog Subs: Cavilieri Johnson Kyrgiakos Lucas Spearing Babel Torres Give Kuyt and Carragher a rest, get Kelly some more first team experience, play Aquilani with decent players ahead of him, don't risk Aurelio or Insua and let N'Gog continue his development before Torres time. Shame El Zhar isn't in the CL squad cos he could have done with some more game time too.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Rafa on Sky saying Aquilani to start and Torres on the bench. After all the waiting, I betcha he plays right wing or something

Alonso Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Is Kelly fit? Can't be far off being fit and nothing on Phsyio Room or the Fantasy Premier League site saying he's injured. If he is then give Darby or Degen a go.
Hodgson for Chelsea Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Good chance to see what Acquilani can do, and against Italian opposition too which should suit him. Don't care about the result, just praying we can get that 4th place now. Feels like the GH days in a lot of ways.

Hodgson for Chelsea Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 dont you f***ing start LOL well it does - our goals have gone back a notch this season but a 4th place finish and some new owners in the summer and all will be well again.
