Headphone advice

Want to get my wife some decent headphones for christmas, I know theres a billion threads about this already here somewhere but the search isnt bringing up any of them. Prefer some old school ones as opposed to the in-the-ear types but not too big that they arent portable?

 

Any suggestions? Or better still someone better than me who can point me in the direction of the older thread?
