Murphman Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 I was thinking about the posts in the Footie Forum, by and large we agree about 7 or 8 players are a 'given, the likes of Rushie, Kenny, Torres, Gerrard, Hansen, Souness, probably Barnes and Emlyn. So in Murph's magic world where everybody is 25 years old at the same time I've created an all stars X1. let's be honest, nobody would stand a chance against our first pick, not the mancs, not Arsenal not anybody. Biased, moi? Nope I mean it, so, picking just ONE player from each club, their 'greatest ever player' I've put this side together which might just get a draw on a good day with a bent ref and Mr Ferguson in his ear. I've only included people I've seen so basically since the world cup in 1966. Banks Leicester City Reaney LeedsMoore West HamMcGrath Man Utd.Pearce Notts Forest Bell Man CityLampard Chelsea (F*cking hurt that did)Ball EvertonBrady Arsenal Shearer NewcastleGreaves Spurs It's a lot harder than it looks.
Stevie H Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 why would you have mcgrath from united? when you could have best?
Gunga Din Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 (edited) why would you have mcgrath from united? when you could have best? Best would have been a rubbish Centre half no John Charles in that team either silly Murph and Peter Schmeichel was better than Banks. as was Jennings Edited December 4, 2009 by Gunga Din

Stevie H Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 i was going to suggest john charles, yeah. and you could have him from hereford meaning you could use a leeds player like bremner or giles if you so wished. silly murph.
fred milne Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 let's be honest, nobody would stand a chance against our first pick, not the mancs, not Arsenal not anybody.I reckon that's a more interesting debate: all-time Liverpool XI v all-time Utd XI. We'd need one of our resident Mancs to contribute the all-time Utd XI team.

Murphman Posted December 4, 2009 Author Posted December 4, 2009 Best would have been a rubbish Centre half no John Charles in that team either silly Murph and Peter Schmeichel was better than Banks. as was Jennings Well pick a f*cking team then smartyf*cking pants. It's easy to stand on the touchline booing, you can only have ONE player per team, so if you have Charles you lose Reaney and you need a right back, if you pick Schmeichel you lose mcGrath, if you pick Best you lose McGrath and you lose Shearer or Greaves. It's not that easy Silly Wayne.

That's f*cking cheating, you may as well pick Keegan and say he played for sc***horpe.
Stevie H Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 That's f*cking cheating, you may as well pick Keegan and say he played for sc***horpe.how is it cheating? you've got leicester, leeds and forest in there you mental old relic.

Stevie H Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 alright without much forethought, and assuming the players at their best ever: southall (everton) cohen(fulham)charles (hereford)moore (west ham)blanchflower (spurs) best (man united)keane (notts forest)haynes (wealdstone)deyna (man city) gullit (chelsea)henry (arsenal)

Sion Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Always thought Mcgrath's ability was over rated because of his problems. Like Spurs fans claiming King would be the best CB in the world were it not for his injuries.

muleskinner Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Always thought Mcgrath's ability was over rated because of his problems. Like Spurs fans claiming King would be the best CB in the world were it not for his injuries. I thnk he is still under rated by a lot of people. He was a magnificent footballer in spite of his injuries and other issues. A clean bill of health and he would probably have been one of the best ever centre halves.
Boca Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 I thought McGrath was one of the best CB's in the world even with all his problems. king isn't fit (yeah I know) to lace his boots.
dorgie Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Gary Neville (Man Utd)Tony Gale (West Ham)Sam Allardyce (Bolton)Eamon Dunphy (Milwall) Jamie Redknapp (Tottenham)Paul Merson (Aston Villa)Matt Le Tissier (Southampton) Stan Collymore (Nottm Forest)Andy Gray (Everton)Charlie Nicholas(Arsenal) Struggling for a goalkeeper, but would love any Liverpool XI to t*** that lot.

Snookie Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 king isn't fit (yeah I know) to lace his boots. Or his drinks.... Wish Kenny had been successful in signing him (he really wanted to play for Liverpool and his son was on the books for a while). He's the only player in the last 25 years who would have being a better partner for Hansen than Lawerenson.

Congrats that's a great c***'s eleven. I'd substitute Lucas Neill for Gale, and Dave Beasant for Le Tisser, Terry Hurlock for Dunphy and Robbie Savage to make it 11.

Cohen was the worst player in 1966, about as good as Phil Neville.. Steve Heighway played for Skem, case for Prescott Cables, you just carry on....
