Nate. Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Plans turned down. Been on SSN this morning. Apparently Everton are now saying they will consider ground share. Expect SSN to ramp this up over the day.
DJM Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 That octac*** Sean Custis was on SSN in the newspaper review bit saying how he couldnt understand why we didnt share with Everton etc. Yawn
The Hitman Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Christ, football in Liverpool is suffering at the moment.
Stevie H Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 That octac*** Sean Custis was on SSN in the newspaper review bit saying how he couldnt understand why we didnt share with Everton etc. Yawnubermuppet garth crooks was at it with great earnestness on radio five's football daily yesterday. 'well, i have to say, if it's good enough for ac and inter milan. . .'
rowlho Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 fact is both clubs have no money ( especially Everton) both need a new stadium fans dont want it but they dont matter cos neither club just like most premier clubs give a flying eff about the fans
Flasher Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 fact is both clubs have no money ( especially Everton) both need a new stadium fans dont want it but they dont matter cos neither club just like most premier clubs give a flying eff about the fans Exactly. As each day passes it becomes inevitable.
Tones Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Dont think it will happen. Certainly hope not.
Cam Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Patrick Barclay was banging on about the city not being big enough to support two stadiums and if we're not careful both LFC and EFC will become the new Sheffield Weds/Utd. Absolute nonsense. They've done just fine so far. He'd have made a better argument saying the clubs themselves ought to merge. The only thing to shut the likes of Kenwright and the NWDA up is to say "yep, we'll do it... let's see Everton's half of the cash."
NWR Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Topic of conversation on Talksport right now.It seems some Everton fans are up for it, but all Liverpool fans say shove it up your ass Goughy
MarkD Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Tell the f*****s to f*** off with this groundshare s****. No world cup matches in Liverpool without a shared stadium threat? f*** that off too. Since the PL began clubs have lost more and more of their heritage and personality as they become brands operating out of homogonous bowls. For us to give up our stadium to become any team sharing a neutral ground would be the death knell of our club.
muleskinner Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Have our 'owners' considered moving the franchise and getting it into the new Olympic stadium?
Cunny Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Is it true that if we did groundshare the stadium could not be in Stanley Park?If that is true, where else could such a stadium be built?
CarraLegend Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Why on earth do these even want a new ground anyway? To add a few 1000 for a couple of years before they all f*** off again? They only fill their current ground once a season.
Billy Dane Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Spurs are looking at building a new stadium, why aren't the National media banging on about them sharing with Arsenal?
muleskinner Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Spurs are looking at building a new stadium, why aren't the National media banging on about them sharing with Arsenal? Why do you think?
floyd Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Patrick BarclayWhat is this tw4ts problem with us? Out of all the journos, this cvnt really does have it in for us.
Cam Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 For our US cousins... how does this work in America-land? They seem to be as attached to some of their stadia... are they more willing to let go and build new memories? Are stadia pretty much temporary (if 30 or 40 years can be called that)?
Sion Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 It's an absolute non-starter. I really can't see what all the talk is about. We'll want 60k minimum. They can only do 50k maximum (and even then they'd not sell out)
Benzo-13 Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Spurs are looking at building a new stadium, why aren't the National media banging on about them sharing with Arsenal?Wembley 90kEmirates 60kNew WHL 60k Twickenham 77kOlympic stadium 80k All in one congested city yet for years Liverpool has had two big clubs but now it can't sustain them? It's southern couch potato spun b****x.
Davvo Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 For our US cousins... how does this work in America-land? I'm not in the US, but the NFL's Giants and Jets in New York currently share a stadium. A new stadium is being built in the car park of the current one, to be open in 2010 I believe. The new stadium has various features to enable it to be kitted out with the right colours etc on game day's, including some kind of light/electronic facility that shades the stadium either green or blue depending on which team is playing. Not sure how the fan's take sharing, but I think the overall mentality of the fans is totally different to football fans here. Not sure a comparison with USA is relevant really. Be interesting to know how fans of Milan have felt sharing the San Siro, although doesn't that end soon ?
Jacks Jackie Jackson Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Why on earth do these even want a new ground anyway? To add a few 1000 for a couple of years before they all f*** off again? They only fill their current ground once a season. Apparently they'll have to close or completely renovate the Bullens by 2011 as it will fail to meet incoming safety standards by then so you can understand their desire to move quickly. Personally, i've thought a ground share was on since about 2004 and still believe we will either end up sharing with them or it'll be a very close run thing.

Maldini Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 (edited) Just a few of the numerous reasons groundshare is a bad idea: 1. They can't afford to build of a 70k+ stadium and never will. 2. They don't need a 70k+ stadium and never will, so why would they go the extra mile to find financing for it and to secure the planning permission for it?3. 60k is not enough for us3. Although it is cheaper in the short term it ends up costing more in the long term because of things like stadium name sponsorship being halved4. No football pitch can take having games played on it week after week, we've seen the state of the pitches in some of these new stadia, and they only have half the games a shared stadium would have, we'd end up spending millions a year on relaying the pitch and playing on a s**** pitch for large chunks of the season5. We would be homeless. Our new stadium would just be like a rented home with no identity and no soul. We'd have to consult with those c**** on EVERYTHING to do with the stadium. It's be a nightmare having to deal with them on a regualr basis. 6. What happens if they get into financial trouble and can't afford the repayments? The burden falls on us.
