Babel and Reira are probably injured, but Nathan isn't as far as I'm aware. If Ngog gets injured in training, warm-up or the match. We are seriously seriously f***ed.

fred milne Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 (edited) Reina JohnsonCarragherAggerAurelio Masch YossiAquilaniGerrardDossena N'Gog.I like the look of that. P.S. Switch Torres for Ngog and Riera for Dossena when fit and that's the team I'd to see give a run of games to get our season back on track. Edited November 23, 2009 by fred milne
baz2107 Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 I'd go for that too however I think Rafa will play Insua for Dossena (Aurelio left mid) Kuyt for Yossi (Kuyt always plays) and Lucas instead of Mascherano
john_lfc Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Reina JohnsonCarragherAggerAurelio Masch YossiAquilaniGerrardDossena N'Gog. Kuyt for Dossena then swap him and Yossi Sorted
Knox_Harrington Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Kuyt for Dossena then swap him and Yossi SortedI'm a big fan of what Dirk brings but I think he needs a game off to cool his boots. I'd play him against The Trickies.
Chili Palmer Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 (edited) I appreciate that Dirk is crying out for a rest but not sure we are in a strong enough position , squad wise, to offer it yet. When Riera, Yossi and Torres are back to full fitness then maybe, now? not so sure. Edited November 23, 2009 by Chili Palmer

When Riera, Yossi and Torres are back to full fitness then maybe, now? not so sure. There are periods of play where he is actively damaging the side, especially as games wear on. He makes his mistake against Fulham because he's goosed. He's the lad who plays every f***ing game. He's currently a one man advert for rotation: one of, if not the fittest player in our squad and he's buckling under the relentless task given to him every week of doing the running for x, y or z. He needs a game off. I'd rather have him fresh for The Ev and Yossi wide right for Debrechen than another two five out of ten performances from him.
richwilks Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Thought Kuyt looked well below his best on Saturday. Really struggled the last 10 minutes and was detrimental to us. Aren't Pacheco, Amoo, Eccleston etc in the squad? If so why are they not travelling?

Red Kent Posted November 23, 2009 Author Posted November 23, 2009 So we are all happy with one striker still in nappies then ?
Cooger Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Kuyt can play as a striker if need be, so let's not go all mellow dramatic about only having one striker. We have two options, it should be fine.
pawiddop Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 (edited) Its embarrassing, simply embarrassing to have one fit striker, who really should be about 4th choice Edited November 23, 2009 by pawiddop
Cooger Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 So we are all happy with one striker still in nappies then ? Still in nappies, but arguably our best player on Saturday.
Dan Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 So we are all happy with one striker still in nappies then ? I don't think anyone is happy but what do you want? A feet stamping competition?
Stevie H Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 So we are all happy with one striker still in nappies then ?what exactly is the alternative at this point?
GWistooshort Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 (edited) It could be worse Kev, he could have taken Voronin Edited November 23, 2009 by GWistooshort

I think the lack of options upfront, (in the 3 behind as well as the front man) means that Rafa will feel he has to start Dirk. I totall agree that he is shattered and needs a break but Rafa will, as always, ask him to try to push through another couple of games at least. Its such a pity because Dirk is suffering through no fault of his own. (in so much as he is being put up to be shot at when he should be having a break) The team I think Rafa will play is Pep Johnson Carra Agger Aurelio Mash (or Lucas) Aquilani Dirk Stevie Yossi N'Gog Edited November 23, 2009 by Chili Palmer
Red Kent Posted November 23, 2009 Author Posted November 23, 2009 what exactly is the alternative at this point? There isn't one, and that's the issue. Even if Torres was fit, having two strikers in a squad of 18 is poor.

Knox_Harrington Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 We could do with another good player in every position in the outfield spine.
