madaboutlfc Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 It really does show the shocking lack of depth in the squad.. We need a lot of money invested in the first team squad because it was shown up yet again today..
CarraLegend Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 It really does show the shocking lack of depth in the squad.. We need a lot of money invested in the first team squad because it was shown up yet again today.. I dont think today highlights the lack of depth, we had 11 players out, anyone will struggle with that. We do lack another striker though, we didnt need today to tell us that.

Davvo Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 And yet, in another thread, there will be dozens of people going spare at the lack of opportunities for youngsters off the bench.
Lark Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 I wonder why our club suffers so many injuries and illnesses at the same time while no other club seemingly does, not even everton.
Gunga Din Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 The problem is when we miss even our first choice rightback things look bleak.. this is the biggest issue with our squad.. this season is the stuff of nightmares that isnt as bad on its own, because you have Degen, who isnt that bad, and also Carra who can play there. the problem is, when you have 7 or 8 out then things get s***.
Lark Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 i thought ecclestone did ok for the five minutes he was on the pitch btw. He at least had a kick of the ball which is more than can be said of 11million pound babel.
Frosty Jack Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 I wonder why our club suffers so many injuries and illnesses at the same time while no other club seemingly does, not even everton. last time i suggested the medical team being in any way responsible i was hounded out of here.

Rory Fitzgerald Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 In previous seasons, our sh!££iness would be covered by a sound defensive performance and a clean sheet. Our defence is a huge liability this season - some thought Johnson would weaken it but in truth Reina is the only one showing some strenght back there on a consistent basis.
madaboutlfc Posted October 31, 2009 Author Posted October 31, 2009 last time i suggested the medical team being in any way responsible i was hounded out of here.we were relatively injury free apart from torres and gerrard last season
Davvo Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 (edited) last time i suggested the medical team being in any way responsible i was hounded out of here. with good reason I suspect. The problem's we have are not the injury/illness to half a dozen or so players, but more the quality of their replacements. Of our 1st choice XI (and I'll omit Aquilani on the grounds he's never been available to start for us, you can add him if you like), only 3 were unable to start today. Of those that would have stepped in if fit, you could add Skrtel and Reira to the unavailable list. To include Cavilieri and Kelly is a bit of a stretch when complaining of available resources in my opinion. Torres and Benayoun started because we don't have an Owen or a Ji-Sung-Park, we have Babel, and he does not appear to have the manager's confidence (and appears to know it too). Lark Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 last time i suggested the medical team being in any way responsible i was hounded out of here.i can well believe it. It's beyond rose tintedness, it's hear no evil, speak no evil on most lfc forums. This is honestly reminding me of the days of souey's reign and all the old pro's getting lots of mysterious illnesses and injuries. Ttwar used to do a skit of phil boresma's bag of tricks.
Frosty Jack Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 (edited) we were relatively injury free apart from torres and gerrard last season didn't say it last season, but should take a look at who's come and gone*from the medical team the last 10 years. *and in some cases come again. Are you suggesting that some of the players just dont fancy it and claiming problems?
Lark Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 no, dont put words in my mouth....i said it reminds me of souey's era because aload of senior players all got injured at the same time. Which is what is happening now.

Which is what is happening now.nothing like Souness era.. we are by all accounts relatively injury free apart from usual suspects of Gerrad Torres and agger
Lark Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 For the 2nd time, i'm talking about the number of injuries all occurring at the same time. It decimated the squad then and is doing so again. the usual suspects. That phrase alone concerns me. add to that aurelio who's always injured and was missing again today, likewise reira, el zhar etc etc.
Dan Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 nothing like Souness era.. we are by all accounts relatively injury free apart from usual suspects of Gerrad Torres and agger I thought Agger was ill?
madaboutlfc Posted October 31, 2009 Author Posted October 31, 2009 I thought Agger was ill?i was talking about last season.. i think today we were decimated by injury but the problem runs deeper.. At the end of the day a manager with no money to improve the squad should not be expected to pull a rabbit out of the hat every time.. The problem is our injuries dont seem to have a time frame e.g Aquilani was supposed to be fit in 6 weeks but its been a long time with a few more weeks for starting role
Lark Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 how many players in our squad had the flu today?
carrafan Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 Is he among our reserves, the closest to a first team spot?
MFletcher Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 Pacheco, Nemeth and Ngog weren't available for various reasons. I suspect all three would be ahead of him if they were A) fit and B) here.
Maldini Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 (edited) I'd say Dalle Valle would have been ahead of him too. He's talented Eccleston, but he's inconsistent. Good to see him get a chance though. Edited October 31, 2009 by Maldini
