Rory Fitzgerald Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 Massive game, need to be taking our 3pts at home
Ethan Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 Don't give a f*** about the Champions League - play the stiffs
Hassony Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 Don't give a f*** about the Champions League - play the stiffs brilliant plan, and then go into the united game on the back of four straight defeats
Sion Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 brilliant plan, and then go into the united game on the back of four straight defeats Also ignoring the point we've probably got a much better chance of winning the CL than the PL.
Benzo-13 Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Don't give a f*** about the Champions League - play the stiffsNutjob!
Red Kent Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Maybe Hassony means keep the same team as Saturday :-S
anny road Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 this is a massive game for us If we can turn them over convincingly it will give us a huge boost going into the Mancs...Esp if Torres can get a couple just to get him on his game I fancy us to react well Team: Reina...Jono...Carra...Agger.....Insua.....Lucas...Masch...Derek...Benny...Ste...Tog... I am well up for this, come on you mighty reds!

Hopefully Saturdays debacle will galvanize the team and act as a motivation.
anny road Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Will Gerrard and Torres be fit? I would say they will be I was looking at the pics of training on Friday and Torres was training with the first team, so he is at least doing stuff......Its only my opinion but I think he maybe could have played on Saturday, but that would have risked him for Lyon and The Mancs.....If we were playing them last satdee I think he would have played........(only my opinion and based on f*** all) As for Gerrard, not sure
Stevie H Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 lyon are a lot better side than the past couple of seasons. be a test this.
GWistooshort Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Will Gerrard and Torres be fit? Rafa said it is 50/50 in his post-match interviews on Saturday http://www.ynwa.tv/forum/index.php?showtop...p;#entry2473327 This is the latest from the official site......... "Liverpool went into the game without injured duo Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres. On whether they will be fit for Tuesday's home match with Lyon, Benitez said: "Both are improving but it's too soon to say. We'll see again with the physios on Sunday. "We have two or three days and we'll see how they progress. They are improving but it's difficult to say if they can be available. We think they can be but it's too soon to say." http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N...091017-1754.htm
stressederic Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Let's t*** this lot. Also stick Aquilani on the bench and give him a run out when we're coasting.
GWistooshort Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Gerrard took part in training today, but Torres didn't apparently http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_5638097,00.html
fred milne Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Team: Reina...Jono...Carra...Agger.....Insua.....Lucas...Masch...Derek...Benny...Ste...Tog...That's our best XI until we get to see Aquilani.
Bo Benn Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Had a mad thought, shouldn't Benayoun be able to play in CM role instead of Lucas (in the absence of Stevie and Fernando)? I'm neither Luke's biggest fan or his most fierce critic but I do think he has to take a lot of the blame concerning our poor passing and keeping the ball of late. I'm pretty sure Benny plays a more central role for Isreal does he not? Then let one of Babel, Riera or Dirk play in the Gerrard position.

tomasjj Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 It seems clear to me that Benny is better when operating out wide, or at least starting out there. In the middle he gets crowded out and muscled out of play.
Bo Benn Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 But in lack of other alternatives he does seem to have the intelligence and ability to keep and pass the ball better than Lucas.
Swipe Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N...091019-1353.htm GERRARD FIT - TORRES STILL OUT Rafa Benitez has confirmed Steven Gerrard will be available for Tuesday's Champions League encounter with Lyon at Anfield - but Fernando Torres will not figure against the French side. The duo sat out Saturday's Barclays Premier League defeat to Sunderland after failing to recover from knocks sustained while on international duty. However, Gerrard trained with his teammates at Melwood this morning and will be included in the squad for the clash with Les Gones. The boss told a pre-match press conference at Anfield: "Steven is fit. He has been training so hopefully he will be available tomorrow. "It is important as we have had some problems with injuries since the start of the season, so having Gerrard fit is a big boost for us." Meanwhile, though Torres will sit out the fixture with Lyon, the boss is hopeful he'll be able to call on the services of the Reds' No.9 for Sunday's meeting with Manchester United. Benitez added: "Torres is still not ready. Hopefully he will be for the weekend, but not for this game."
Chili Palmer Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 But in lack of other alternatives he does seem to have the intelligence and ability to keep and pass the ball better than Lucas. I don't think keeping the ball is a problem for Lucas, he retains possession well. Torres out is a kick in the balls.
Dan Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 I can't believe spain had him on the bench the f*ckin nobheads. Either way he isn't going to be match fit for the mancs which is a massive kick in the b*llocks.
Sion Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 I can't believe spain had him on the bench the f*ckin nobheads. I can't believe they played him in the first place. f***s sake
