Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Heskey may leave Villa make it stop (admittedly there's no mention of us, but give it time)
Hassony Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 I wouldn't replace him with Voronin, that's how s**** he is
Stevie H Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 a wardrobe could do what he does for england. stand there emile and let it bounce off you in the general direction of rooney or gerrard. a wardrobe might actually score the odd one too.
CarraLegend Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Villa supporters seem to absolutely despise him, no surprise really I suppose, 4th place or higher looked nailed on he arrives and it all goes wrong.

Chili Palmer Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 A wardrobe would stay on it's feet longer. do wardrobes have feet?
crisps Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 (edited) Must drive people like Defoe, Bent and even Crouch mad that he's like second choice England striker Probably end up back at Wigan Edited October 12, 2009 by crisps
Rich Gobey Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 I thought this thread was going to be about the Kev/Ant supporters/detractors nexus.

Cam Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 he's f***ing rubbish now."now"? Y'mean since 2002.
Tones Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Must drive people like Defoe, Bent and even Crouch mad that he's like second choice England striker Probably end up back at Wigan Darren Bents so much better than him too and cant get in the squad
Benzo-13 Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Human Anchor, thats Emile. All he's given Villa is malaise.
deacon Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Capello's one of the best managers of the past 20 years. He's picking Heskey ahead of Defoe, Crouch, Carlton Cole and Bent to name a few. He's clearly got more to his game than some here are giving him credit for, likening him to a wardrobe and rubbish like that. He's a good player and people who think he's rubbish don't know what they're talking about. Did Ian Wright's column calling for Defoe to be selected for England sway your thinking?
deacon Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Oh, and just because he's not performing for Villa isn't conclusive proof that he's no good. The tactically inept mug that is O'Neill doesn't have a clue.
Rimbeux Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 He serves a purpose for England by running about a lot and competing physically with one or two centre halves leaving more gifted players space in and around him to pick up the scraps and create danger unmarked. It's a very definite tactical role that is similar to the one he played for us under Houllier. My main issue with him is that he's taken non-scoring to an art-form, he actively avoids scoring positions if he can

New York Red Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Darren Bents so much better than him too and cant get in the squad So true. Bent looks excellent right now.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 But Michael Owen loves playing with him ! Fergie Fergie, sign him up !!
Hassony Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 So true. Bent looks excellent right now. he scored 17 goals for spurs last season as well, I think he would have been an ideal back up for Torres, but obviously a much s***ter version
carrafan Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 A target man would be useful in many games, especially as an outball when we're under the cosh and in Europe too. I'd have him back as backup. He'd be more useful than N'gog, Babel or Voronin upfront. Makes sense to have English players as backup as they wont start too many games and wont eat up a foreign trained spot too. But Heskey didnt come to us because he didnt think we'd give him the games and he's leaving Villa for the same reason. He'll probably end up at Stoke or Brum. Or Everton, Moyes loves his targetmen.
