Liverpool striker Fernando Torres had to withdraw early from Spain's training session this evening after complaining of discomfort in his groin.

 

The national team's medical staff have said that the injury is not serious and the decision for his early departure from the session was purely precautionary, according to Spanish publication AS.

 

Coach Vicente Del Bosque is already without the services of Torres' strike partner David Villa, who withdrew from the squad after suffering a hamstring injury in Valencia's 1-0 win over Racing Santander at the weekend.

Liverpool star Dirk Kuyt is confident he will be fit to play the Socceroos on Saturday night despite missing training with his Netherlands teammates on Wednesday.

 

Kuyt is suffering from an ankle injury picked up in his side's 2-0 loss to Chelsea on the weekend but expects he will recover fully in time for Saturday's friendly match.

Fekin absurd. WTF do Spain do in their training sessions? I'm pretty sure that the last 2 times he's been injured on international duty it's been during training rather than during the match.

 

And the Dutch team are flying to Australia for a friendly? just stupidity beyond belief.

Fernando Torres limped out of training with the Spain squad but his injury is not thought to be serious.

 

The Liverpool striker abandoned the training session as a precautionary measure when he pulled up with a groin problem, but was later able to exercise on his own in the gym.
