no internationals? PLTBT

on-demand football broadcasting where the rights owners are individual clubs for league and champions league football and national associations for internationals and world cups. though fifa may hang onto world cups as a massive revenue generator every four years.

Johnson deserves faith from fans

Why England legend George Cohen thinks under-fire full-back Glen Johnson will come good "

WTF? Too many column inches to fill, clearly.

I'd prefer to see the annihilation of FIFA and international football in a single bout of bloodletting

they've gone with the sky boxing model rather than the american bic biro model.

Yep. For a stream too. Very strange.

The whole point of steaming etc is that it should be low running costs. Even if there are cost reasons behind the price they generally try to build up some customer loyalty by having loss leading stuff in place at first and then start to ramp up the cost as the service becomes proven

I suppose the issue is that this wasn't planned so they might be looking at it as a one off.

definitely smacks of a one-off, because you can bet your a*** that the stream will fall over a few times and people will be pissed off. which they could probably get away with if they charged two quid, but not if they are charging twelve.

If they charge 12 it might not fall over. Hardly any bugger will be using it

The issue is that the rights to the telvised game are owned by the Ukrainian FA who use some scheisters to look after their interests. They had a deal with Setanta in place, but hey...so then they tried flogging it to the BBC, SKy and ESPN all of whom baulked at the price asked, so they went with this streaming company, who can only stream 1,000,000 people then the system grinds to a halt, so they cap the number there - explains the rather daft cost too. Lots of loonies will want to pay yet still won't be able to. Effective HQ large volume streaming of big, time-relevant unternational events is still some distance away.

Watching a pointless international game which counts for nothing on a small screen and paying £12 for the privilege.

I'd be surprised if they get 100.

Which was why the broadcasters wouldn't pay the asking price - FA f*** up again really.

What do the FA care? They'd already sold the rights to Santa, no skin off their nose.

As for pricing it badly, don't the no-frills airlines do exactly the same thing, early-birds get the cheap seats and then the price keeps going up until the last minute?
