floyd the barber Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Insua - has done ok...but has really been shown up in the past 2 games.....up against true quality and his inexperience shows...definetly one for the future, not ready yet and with aurellio fit....id start fab at left back.. carragher...sorry but another poor performance, thought he should have been following anelka into the box for the first goal....he let him go and he scores.. and our passing from the back is awful with insua and carra mostly to blame...
JonShar Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 I don't honestly know if I watch different games sometimes. Thought Insua was decent considering he was the only one playing on the left hand side. Thought the centre of our defence looked as good as it has all season too, Carra was fine. Our midfield was shockingly bad, and I'm quite sure Kuyt has let Pennant's comments go to his head, cause he's been useless for the past 2 games.
Earl Hafler Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 An option in attack to add some physical presenceSome practice on the set-pieces would be niceAquilani back a.s.a.p to replace LucasA clause in Carra's contract that forces him to pay £5,000 every time he launches one over the halfway line.
Farmer's Tan Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 insua didnt do a lot wrong today neither did lucas, what game are u guys watching?
MFletcher Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Insua and Lucas played well. The whole team did, it was just one mistake by Mascherano and another by Carra at the end that ultimately cost us the game. These things happen.
CarraLegend Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Just f***ing scrap zonal marking. Cant you go back to TLW? Pleeeeasssee!
Bo Benn Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Been one of Carra's most fierce critics of recent, but thought he did ok today myself. Decisiveness further upfield is what cost us today, not our defenders.
stressederic Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Insua and Lucas played well. The whole team did, it was just one mistake by Mascherano and another by Carra at the end that ultimately cost us the game. These things happen. This. Before Mascherano gave the ball away like that we were on top of that game. We were then on top of Chelsea again afterwards. Torres didn't play particularly well and should have scored that chance on his left foot. Annoyingly these games are often decided by one little thing and that's the way it was today. Fortunately with Chelsea losing last week and United dropping points yesterday, it's not actually too damaging for us.
Cunny Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 I thought we played ok. There is no need to press the panic button after that.We definitely got a response after Fiorentina.Paid the price for a careless mistake by Mascherano.Insua was fine and showed he has a pair to play well after a poor game in the week and a load of criticism.

Torres had f*** all quality service so how could he have played well ? Gerrard didn't do much and his corners and freekicks are abysmal considering his ability. I can't wait for Aquilani to replace Lucas in the side. The man makes crabs look mobile.
Swipe Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Torres clearly has the same opinion of Atkinson as we all do. He gets himself very frustrated when he's in charge and getting no protection.
meepins Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Before Mascherano gave the ball away like that we were on top of that game. We were then on top of Chelsea again afterwards. No we weren't. They had all the chances and were putting pressure on. We turned it around when Benayoun came on.
Mr. Biscan Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Cant you go back to TLW? Pleeeeasssee! No. If you can't replace the players, replace the f***ing system. It's flogging a dead horse.
CarraLegend Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 No. If you can't replace the players, replace the f***ing system. It's flogging a dead horse. What are you on about you f***ing prick? Have you seen the goals?

Gerrard didn't do much and his corners and freekicks are abysmal considering his ability. I can't wait for Aquilani to replace Lucas in the side. The man makes crabs look mobile. Well, there were one or two exceptions, but I thought the team as a whole did their jobs for the first hour and we were in the ascendancy until Masch made the mistake. We then had them pinned back for a good amount of time before the second as well. I don't have any real concerns about the performance today. The result is annoying, but nothing that demonstrates underlying weaknesses or areas for major concern.
stressederic Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 No we weren't. They had all the chances and were putting pressure on. We turned it around when Benayoun came on. I disagree. I couldn't see where Chelsea were going to score from. Admittedly I wasn't entirely sure where we were going to score from either, but you can tell that Drogba was getting annoyed because he'd gone into full whining c*** flounce mode. Skrtel and Carragher were dealing with them. Drogba's cross for their goal was a nightmare to defend.
FC Showster Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 No. If you can't replace the players, replace the f***ing system. It's flogging a dead horse. Ridiculous to blame zonal marking on a day where we didn't concede from set-pieces. Might as well blame Baros or Westerveld for today's loss
meepins Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 I disagree. I couldn't see where Chelsea were going to score from. Admittedly I wasn't entirely sure where we were going to score from either,Like I said in the match thread, they weren't much and we were worse. They passed it and created half chances. We hardly kept the ball for more than two to three passes and then gave it the hoof. We created nothing for the most part.
Chili Palmer Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Ridiculous to blame zonal marking on a day where we didn't concede from set-pieces. Might as well blame Baros or Westerveld for today's loss I might try that to make me feel better. I hate Westerveld.
Gomez Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Just f***ing scrap zonal marking. Is that sarcasm? I see no smilie. Do you get all your opinions off murdoch, or just those on football? I agree changes are needed, let's start at the very very top so we can actually build a squad that can actually compete.
Mr. Biscan Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 What are you on about you f***ing prick? Have you seen the goals? You f***ing prick? That's abit harsh isn't it. Our defense is an absolute shambles, and yes I did see the same and yes I did see the 2nd goal as well. Our defence needs a massive change of ethos. It needs a collective boot up it's backside.
Swipe Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Skrtel played very well today. Yeah he was good. Carra was fine to for the most part.

Our squad is actually good enough, I didn't even think we played that bad today I thought as has been mentioned Mascherano's mistake cost us. That being said everytime they attacked our defense just looked on edge. There is absolutely no shred of confidence in that defense.
