Rory Fitzgerald Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Double agent Glen Hysen - thought he made more than 93 appearances for us.
allawee Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Fiorentina have had a good start to the Italian season. Fourth and won again this weekend. I think Muto is the danger man. They have an intimidating ground and a I think a draw is a good result to bring back home.

Rory Fitzgerald Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Only because we're still in the league format. If it was the knock out round we'd be looking to lose 2-1.Absolutely, getting that away goal but conceding 2 is a better result than drawing 0-0. You really do need that away goal - at any cost !
Red Kent Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Away goals can count double if both clubs finish level with same goals scored and conceeded. It will go on the two matches between the two teams as if it was a knock-out competition.
CarraLegend Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 (edited) Dont rate these at all, very average. But it depends on us, we sometimes play these games in first gear, if not we'll be comfortable. Edited September 27, 2009 by CarraLegend
Clay Davis Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Dont rate these at all, very average. But it depends on us, we sometimes play these games in first gear, if not we'll be comfortable.Agreed.
Nerik Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 They will miss Gilardino but have good options in Mutu, Jovetic and others. Decent keeper in Frey too. Decent side, but we are better but their ground is a difficult one to win at.
carrafan Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Win this and we're in pole position to progress out of the group in under four games. Fiorentina always manage to have good strikers but they actually have a good team this term and will be tough to beat. Btw, isnt their fullback Juan Vargas highly rated? We were linked with him earlier in the summer but he signed a new deal, i think.
floyd the barber Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 reckon masch will be back for this... highly expect the following team ------------reina------------johns---carr----skrt---insua------------------------------kuyt---masch-lucas-benny-----------gerrard----------------------torres--------------
Walrus Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 reckon masch will be back for this... highly expect the following team ------------reina------------johns---carr----skrt---insua------------------------------kuyt---masch-lucas-benny-----------gerrard----------------------torres--------------Of course he will, he's made for these kind of games, Javier. Think Aurelio and Riera will start on the left, other than that I think that's the team.
Beardsley Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Even though Fiorentina looks good in the Italian league, that league isn't all that at the moment. Hence, I expect us to get a win. And by the way, Florence is ace. Try the Harrys bar close to the river. Best drinks in the world!

When Everton went there, there was an alcohol ban across the city, they couldn't even get a drink in the airport.
Beardsley Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 From what I've read, the pubs and restaurants will serve alcohol.
Stevie H Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 They will miss Gilardino but have good options in Mutu, Jovetic and others. Decent keeper in Frey too. Decent side, but we are better but their ground is a difficult one to win at. frey should have gone on to be world class but never really kicked on at a time when the france 'keeper's job was begging for someone to grab it.
Nerik Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Yeah Frey was expected to become a better keeper than he actually did, but he is still a pretty decent one.
Stevie H Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 it's per kroldrup that should be worrying us.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 it's per kroldrup that should be worrying us. Why, are we scouting him
CarraLegend Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Mascherano out illBenayoun injured woopsie Not a problem at all, Babel deserves a start anyway.
Stevie H Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 lucas gerrard babel kuyt riera torres be fine. long as them two are available for chelsea.
David Hodgson Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 lucas gerrard babel kuyt riera torres be fine. long as them two are available for chelsea. Too right. You'd hope Masch would be, but there's no indication of the seriousness of Yossi's injury.
Nerik Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Interesting piece of trivia. Their coach, Prandelli, played the last 6mins of the tragic final in Heysel in 1985. He has been talking about Heysel in the pre-match press conferences.
